Hi '01s! Lots to report from our classmates: Patrick Rowe proposed to Kristin Verdiani during a trip to St. John on July 4; they are planning a summer 2009 wedding! Carrie Hoverman and Geoff Colla 'O4 were married in August during a beautiful ceremony in Hanover. The couple celebrated with many other Dartmouth alumni, including Carries father, Stephen Hoverman '71; Carries brother David Hoverman 98; Carries sister-in-law Abby Smith '9B; and Geoff's father, Stanley Colla '66. Anna Nika is marrying Eric Mengel in April 2009.
David Latham and his wife, Rachele, welcomed their first child in July, Timothy James Latham. Matt Markell and his wife, Kate, welcomed baby boy Joshua in August. AmandaMontgomery and husband Judd Newcomb are expecting a girl in November. Their friends Scott Dionne and his wife, Sloan, are also expecting a baby later this year, along with Steve Leschuk and Jenna Perry Leschuk, who are expecting a boy in December.
John Nichols competed at his third world rowing championships; he moved to Baltimore to enroll at Johns Hopkins medical school. Elizabeth Badger '02 joined John in the move. Jennifer Feltner relocated to Tucson, Arizona, to start a career in wildlife biology and conservation after rebuilding homes for Hurricane Katrina victims in Mississippi. Eric Bielke graduated with an M.B.A. from University of Chicago and is starting a new business to develop rooftop solar power systems. He spent this past summer cycling through Europe following the Tour de France. Susan Kwon received her M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management along with Erik Wright and Damon Austin. After traveling for a month she returned to her hometown of Chicago. Christopher Miranda relocated to Pittsburgh and got engaged to Ashley Weaver; they added dog Zooey to their family. Timothy Waligore completed a Ph.D. in political science at Columbia University and is teaching at Smith College. Kascha and John Snaveiy relocated to Seattle after John graduated from MIT with a masters in architecture. Kascha continues to work toward finishing a doctorate in philosophy. Kristin Romberg moved to Beirut, Lebanon, where she is teaching at an international elementary school. Emily Nytko finished her Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry at MIT and moved to Washington, D.C., with her husband, John Lutz. Lauren Hierl and Shane Heath returned from living and working in South Africa; they relocated to Washington, D.C. Their friend Melissa Singh is excited to have them join her there! Jen Gill moved to France to begin her M.B.A. studies at INSEAD.
Joe Mclntyre won the Mongolian Medal for Excellence in Teaching. He's currently teaching English in Mongolia and learning to speak Kazakh; he married Ozat Armangul. Adrian Loehwing recently traveled through the United States and caught up with Olga Kulinets Kolman in Boston, Shelley Sandell Allen in Pennsylvania and Kelly Hsieh in Manhattan; Adrian returned to London to play polo during the English summertime. Catherine Curran Kelly is moving to Hong Kong for the next few years with her husband, Sean, and son Jack.
Chance Hill is serving in Taji, Iraq; he works with the Iraqi Army on a daily basis, sometimes more often than he's working with his fellow Americans. Brian Garton returned from teaching English in Korea and spent the past year working as a freelance videographer. Sara Tantillo finished a successful run of producing the play Untitled Masterpiece in the New York International Fringe Festival; she's starting her second season as assistant production manager at Opera Delaware. Jane Parkin is running the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth half marathon, which will finish on the Dartmouth Green—good luck, Jane!
