The annual Class Dinner was held, as usual, the Friday night before the Harvard game in spite of the gas and tire shortage. Thanks to Ned French a private dining room at the Algonquin Club was reserved for us and an excellent dinner served. Twenty-five '06ers and three guests were present. Some of the regular attendants failed to show up, but others were there who had not been present for many moons.
The Class was thrilled to see Joe Nuelle, whom most of us had not seen since 1903. It was good, too, to see Bob Wardwell again after his long absence. The long distance prize went to Henry Thrall who came all the way from Minneapolis—and was he glad to see Joe Nuelle after a lapse of thirty-nine years.
Ralph Fitts was unable to attend but he sent his son, Nathan, a Lt. J.G., U.S.N.R., in his place, whom we were delighted to have with us. Herb Rainie was accompanied by his son Robert, a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, who is a third year Medical Student. Bill Bell was also a welcome guest. He looked hale and hearty after his long illness.
The following is the roster of those present:
Bill Bell, Gott Brooks, Art Burnie, Art Chapin, Francis Childs, Tom Connell, Randall Cooke, Roy Denison, Charlie French, Ned French, Max Hartmann, Arthur Holmes, Nat Leverone, Joe Nuelle, Cliff Perry, Walt Powers, Herb Rainie, Ned Redman, Harold Rugg, Norm Russell, Earle St. Clair, Henry Thrall, Bobbie Wallace, Bob Wardwell, Harvey Whittemore. Guests: Nathan Fitts, Roy Holloway, Robert Rainie.
This is the first year in a long while that Eph Smith and General Davis failed to show up, and we were disappointed to have their record broken.
As usual Harvey had a white boutonniere for each member and guest. Telegrams were received from Dan Hatch, Bob Blood and Billy B. Van and letters of regret from Charles Crane, Dave Main and a number of others.
The only business transacted was the election of Dave Main as a member of the Executive Committee.
