It is always nice to receive a letter from a Classmate which brings us up to date on his family and himself—every once in awhile Vt.- born, raised Rollie Reynolds, he who possessed music-composing and other w.k. lovable attributes as an undergraduate, packs a lot of interest into a few lines.

"As you see," writes the author, lecturer, educator who headed N.Y.'s famous Horace Mann School for many years, "we have moved from the Cradle Valley Farm in New Jersey which had 100 acres—much too large for my declining years. I was lucky enough to find a N. Y. businessman of money who had the farm next to mine and wanted to add to his estate. I got a darned good price— far more than I ever dreamed I could get for it. Then we bought a place 20 miles up the Delaware River from New Hope—three acres, nice old house which used to be in the olden days a hostelry for the Canal boatmen who remained overnight. It is pretty big but not too big when the Reynolds Clan gathers—three children, all married—and three simply swell grandchildren. The two boys got out of the service at the same time and we had a grand family reunion at Cradle Valley. Bob came out with rank of Lieut. Commander in the Navy; and George, who had a pretty tough time of it—Africa, India and Tinian in the Pacific with a B-29 outfitemerged as a Master Sergeant in the Army. Betsy was married in January to a fine man who is in Merchant Marine. Bob has his Doctor's Degree from Columbia and is Ass't Director of State Technical School in White Plains, N. Y. George will have his Doctor's Degree at the end of this summer and is on faculty of State Teachers College, Plattsburgh, N. Y. Betsy is teaching in a N.Y.C. Nursery School, where she will remain until her Bill gets out of the service.

"We like this quaint, tiny village where we live. I was brought up in a small village and enjoy having the folks say 'Good Morning' to me 'whether or not they know us. Living a quiet, peaceful life, gardening, reading and just visiting with my neighbors."

Nice letter, wasn't it? The sort that passes between members of a family .... informative and makes you feel good .... we'd like a lot more of the same kind which the 01' Vermont Yank penned.

It is interesting to note that the other half of that famous outfit, which lived in The Tavern, freshman year; Shurtleff House, sophomore year; Fayerweather, junior; and Wheeler, senior year, has done quite all right, too .... Charles Otis Libbey, the East Corinth, Maine, half of the tandem, an authority in his line heads the Office Methods Staff of Tennessee Valley Authority .... any Tenner in the vicinity of Knoxville, Tenn., would do well to look up Charlie .... as a matter of fact, Charlie and Rollie should line up for our Reunion in 1950

1910 bore a lot of male children to give Dartmouth more sons than any other class up to the time the War jumbled up things

and now 1910 Sons are already bearing their sons to continue the line of succession Tenners have a whole flock of grandchildren .... and to hear the Grandpops boast, you'd be listening to some tall Munchausenian claims.

THE SMITHS .... Thayer Jr. finished Univ. of Cal. Med School, is interning at Santa Monica Hospital..... Malcolm married Doris Fitzsimons in California last summer (Thayer Sr. and wife drove out), is now majoring in Child Psychology at Eastern State College .... Peter, engaged to Lynn Hornbecker of Colby Junior College, is majoring in English at Dartmouth, doing some radio and seme work on undergraduate magazine Bob, a Dartmouth sophomore, is majoring in Government

Donald, Holderness valedictorian last June, is a pre-med at Dartmouth Dorothy is a junior at Miss Beard's School Betsy and Susan are in high school Sammy commutes to Rudolf Steiner School in N. Y., getting ready to follow his several brothers plus father, uncle, grandfather and other w.k. members of the Smith family to Hanover, most of whom have been doctors. Thayer and Dorothy Smith deserve a special niche in Heaven for the grand work they have done in raising an outstanding family of six sons and three daughters.

WHILE IN WASHINGTON recently we decided to be a dutiful Secretary and contact the four Tenners residing there, something which you cannot do in Boston or New York because you would never know where to start and where to end Talked first with Tally Holmes, longtime successful educator (in Franklin High School for over 35 years), lawyer, hotel owner whose older son is studying law in Washington after graduating from Cornell, whose second son is doing a good job at Bates. .... Next with Art Gow, in Washington for many years, working for the Government as a business specialist Then with HerbWoods, well-known, able economic unionadviser, getting ready to retire in not too distant future Tried "Inky" Taylor who unsnarls legal tangles for the Government.... but ran into snag through "Inky's" recent moving and subsequent no phone listing .... did get one "Marvin L. Taylor" who seemed like a nice chap and volunteered that he received a bunch of phone calls for our "Marvin C."

Messrs. Gow, Holmes, Woods were in excellent health, full of inquiries about the College and their Classmates, desirous of getting back to Hanover for visits and Reunions .. . and all sent their best to the gang.

J Easty re-elected Pres. of Minneapolis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America Dixi Crosby sends Greetings to everyone, will attend 1950 Reunion Paul Albert pens and pines, "An old Chinese custom impels me to get all of my bills paid before the New Year, so here are my Class dues. Wish I could imbue my debtors with the same spirit. Nothing much ever happens out this way. The years slip by pretty fast. See a good deal of Shorty Worcester.... we live next door to each other during the summer." .... Had nice visit with Jim MacPherson recently; Jim spends lot of time in N. Y., knows a flock of Big Wigs in Washington and elsewhere. . . . Walter Wilson lives at 404 E. Broadway, Glendale 5, Calif Mike Elliott has another 6,000 in his Psychology courses at Univ. of Minnesota this year, Mike heading the Department.

Andy Scarlett is better, still somewhat lame in one f00t.... he and Bertha are going to Bermuda in early March for two months let's all give him a running start with the Alumni Fund this year to make his task easier!

THE HEALD TRIUMVIRATE: Down through the years, the Healds continue to supply Dartmouth with able men—Grandpa Dave '11, Papa Dave '42 (Hanover Inn Manager), and Davey '64.
