For the past three months, Carl Kaufmann has been working for General Electric in Schenectady, N. Y. He is working with the General News Bureau which provides, as a company service, stories for the newspapers and magazines. Carl is soon to be married to Miss Ruth Wyman of Scarborough, N. Y., a 1946 graduate of Vassar. Carl is not the only Dartmouth man in his office, but he is interested to know if other '47's are working at the G. E. plant there in Schenectady.

Ted Platz is in the advertising business with the J. Walter Thompson Company as an assistant account representative in the international department. His main accounts are the Owens-Illinois (Glass) Company and Gillette; he is in charge of their foreign advertising. Ted hasn't seen any '47's recently, al- though he reports that the classes of '44, '45, and '46 are well-represented.

From Washington, D. C., Bill Clay writes:

"I've managed to tie-in with the 'look sharp' crowd and am now peddling razor blades for the Gillette Safety Razor Company. A few weeks after leaving Hanover in February 1947, I made my connection with Gillette and after a month of beating around with other salesmen, I was given the Washington office. My titular position is that of Washington Representative, which means I do everything the company wants done down here from sweeping the office floor to negotiating contracts with government agencies. The beauty of all this is the fact that my activities are not just those in the sales field. Our advertising activities carry me into radio, newspaper, and television in my attempts to get added promotion, check lineage, and promote good will. I attend conferences, luncheons, and conventions as the company representative all of which isn't hard to take."

Bill has met some '47's in Washington: BillGoode, who is at George Washington University doing work in the Foreign Service School for his Master's Degree; Vic Brum, who is attending medical school, presumably at the same institution; and Jack Halpin, who is studying at the Institute of Public Affairs.

From Hank De Angelis in Flanover comes an interesting correspondence. On September 21, 1947, Hank was married to Miss Sara May Thomas, and since that time, he and his bride have been living in Hanover. Hank has a teaching fellowship in chemistry which makes it possible for him to do graduate work to- wards his M.A., which according to schedule, he will receive after two more years on the Dartmouth campus. Hank has recently heard from Lem Monlton, who has received his Master's Degree in Math at Columbia. Lem is now at Brown University with his wife, working for his Doctor's Degree in Math.

Dick Hill is a radio announcer at WKBR in his home town of Manchester, N. H., and taking a correspondence course in the engineering end of radio. Dick tried the insurance business for awhile after graduation, but since he started radio work last April, he has enjoyed it and intends to remain in that field of work. Elmer Burke is managing an employment agency in Long Beach, California, and has a five-months-old daughter.

Miss Janet Louise Brakel is engaged to Parker Hicks. Miss Brakel attended Texas State College for Women and the University of Houston.

Dick O'Haren is working for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a communications representative. On Christmas Eve, he had the good fortune to become engaged to Miss Ellen Weirs of St. Louis. Dick forwards the information that Henry Powell is working in New York as a buyer for the R. H. Knott Department Store. As a member of the Dartmouth Club of St. Louis, Dick attends the regular monthly smokers and occasionally the dinner parties and other outings.

Harry Krummel is working in Quincy, Illinois, for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. With the help of the above-mentioned Dick O'Haren as best man, Harry was married in October to the former Miss Eileen Higgins. Harry is looking forward to a vacation trip this coming summer to Hanover.

Art Goodwin is a salesman for the Graybar Electric Co. in Hartford, Conn. GeorgeHardisty is at Stanford University as a law student and counselor. Henry Powell spends his working day as Merchandise Manager for the Lazarus Store Inc. in Wilkes Barre, Pa. Fred Ruoff is a student and teacher in the English Department at Rutgers University. EdGrady is a student salesman for the Graybar Electric Co. in New York City.
