Miss Nancy A. Sullivan, youngest daughter of our late classmate, is now living at 325 East 72nd St., New York City. The picture accompanying her father's In Memoriam notice pleased her so much that she had copies of it made for some family members and friends. The picture was taken from our 1948 group photograph in Hanover at Commencement time.
"Slugger" Currier, with his characteristic sense of humor, began a recent letter to your secretary: "I have to choose my time to answer letters. My doctor has been away on his vacation and I feel somewhat better." After referring appreciatively to letters, holiday greeting cards, etc. received from members of '89, our classmate—for years confined to his home by illness—comments on national politics in his usual inimitable style. Notwithstanding his long residence in the South, his staunch Republicanism of the North (his native Vermont) has apparently not been dimmed in the slightest.
Richard E. Hazen, son of our classmate, reports that his mother, long an invalid, died last fall, and that his father appears quite healthy, notwithstanding a heart difficulty. "Fush" is living in Logan, Utah, in the home of his only living son, who is married, and everything is being done there for his comfort and happiness.
Ralph Doane continues to keep well and active. His letterhead reads: "Real Estate. Cape Cod Properties." His daughter, long located in Boston, visits him frequently and attends to his correspondence. Last fall he followed the Dartmouth football games closely and the victory over Cornell was highly pleasing to him.
Daniel Webster, while visiting Windsor, England, in 1839, was asked by John Kenyon, Esq., an English gentleman of fortune and culture, to give him his autograph to keep as a recollection of the pleasant visit. Webster wrote:
"When you and I are dead and gone,This busy world will still jog on,And laugh and sing, and be as heartyAs if we still were of the party.
