The Alumni Council advises that the College has received, from the estate of Carl H.Richardson, a bequest of $2500, which will be known as the Carl H. Richardson Scholarship Fund.
Guy C. Richards, who died November 1, 1950, provided in his will that the College become the beneficiary of his residual estate. The part of the will pertaining to the college is as follows: "If my wife shall not survive me (she died before he did), I give the residue of my estate to the Trustees of Dartmouth College at Han- over, New Hampshire, to be held and invested separately as the Guy C. Richards—Class of 1896 Fund and the income is to be used as follows: "First: To contribute one hundred dollars in my name to the Tucker Alumni Fund each year so long as any graduate member of the class of 1896 shall be living.
"Second: To furnish scholarship aid to the lineal male descendants of the graduate and non-graduate members of the class of 1896 whenever such descendants as students in good standing in any class of the College shall require such aid and apply therefor.
"Third: Whenever the income of said fund shall not be wholly used for the two purposes aforesaid the balance of such income shall be used to furnish scholarship aid to such other students at Dartmouth College who shall be deemed worthy thereof by the administration of the College, and for this purpose said income may be used in connection with any other income available for such purpose either from the special or general funds of the College; and the principal of said fund shall never be used, but the income thereof shall be wholly used as aforesaid each year."
This bequest may benefit descendants of the class of 1896 for many generations.
