The deafh of Bob MacPhail on September 20 came as a great shock to all of us. He died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage. For an account of his life, see the In Memoriam section.
Classmates attending his funeral in Brookline were Jack Phelan, his roommate for four years in Hanover, and an honorary pall bearer, also George Cole, Red Edgar, LankyLangdell, Topper Robinson and Ed Sawyer. The class extends its deepest sympathies to his wife Beatrice and their son Robert B. MacPhail Jr.
George Pasfield has been neglecting his construction business in Philadelphia for the past year to travel around the East in the interests of our Memorial Fund whenever the necessity arose. His latest trip started September 17 with a Class Gifts Committee meeting in New York. Then we had the pleasure of his and Suzanne's company at our home here in Troy for three days while we worked on the Fund. On Sunday the 21st we drove to Pelham, N. Y„ with the Pasfields and were guests of Bill and Greta Cogswell at their new home. President Rupe Thompson came down Monday afternoon to join the planning session. Rupe was on time only because he is a director of the New Haven Railroad. He was to get off the train from Providence at 125th St., but discovered it was not scheduled to stop there. However, it did stop for Rupe!
Dr. Chuck Hazzard and his wife Blim dropped in to say "hello" and were quickly sold on going to the big 25th reunion. The planners continued working until close to midnight when Rupe left for Providence, the Pasfields for Philadelphia and yours truly was easily persuaded to wait until Tuesday to start the six-hour drive to Troy.
We enjoyed meeting Greta Cogswell and her two charming daughters, Claire, n, and Dolly, 8. Two older children were away at school Nancy at LaSalle and David at Proctor Academy. Bill Cogswell's son Clay '52 was married last June to Marilyn Jerould of Sharon, Mass. They are now living in Detroit, where Clay is a partner in a steel jobbing firm.

George Pasfield and Bill Cogswell are co-chairmen of this combined effort.
