We have strict orders from the top to keep this a short column due to the list of Alumni Fund contributors being published herewith ... 'taint difficult, men! Heaven be praised for a record list! We'll keep scraping for news gladly, though, if you'll keep shelling for the Fund!
For some time now Steve Stotzer has been having serious words with the Old Ciconia and on October 24 them words paid 0ff.... It's a boy, Dave, after two sisters. "Very pleased with our little giant," writes Steve who adds that young D.S. is registered in the Class of '72.... They were passing out daughters on October 2 in Syracuse and Helen and Bill McNulty picked out a beauty; we had to dig this out of the Syracuse HeraldJournal so can't tell you her name. On October 1 the president of Guardian Life Insurance Company of America let it be known that his new financial vice president would henceforth be Pinky Conklin. Our hearty Congrats, George. From a member of the investment department to vice president in fourteen years is a nice piece of knittingtending, boy! Might just as well mention, too, that George is vice chairman of the American Life Convention this year. While on the subject of life insurance, meet Paul Guibord, new general agent of Mutual Benefit Life's New Jersey sales agency, at 54 Park Place in Newark. This represents a change of affiliation for Paul who joined Connecticut Mutual Life in '36 and with whom he set practically any sales record you want to mention, and with whom he was general agent in their big New York agency prior to the switch to Mutual. Keep 'em rolling, Paul!
The phone rang the other night and darned if Bill Stimson wasn't on the other end; he's been transferred to Boston from New Orleans, and arrived here in September. He is chief of the Medical Service at the Public Health Service Hospital in Brighton, and mighty tickled to be back in these parts. We hope to get a first hand look at the guy in the near future, at which time maybe we can pump him for more news.
Here's good news for all of us! Joe Cunningham has a new connection which cancels that bit he gave us in Tithe about his selling the farm and packing up for California, never to be heard from again. Joe is now second-in-command of the National Dairy Supply Association with headquarters in Washington, as before. It was our distinct pleasure to lunch with Joe in Boston last Friday on the occasion of his having attended a big milk and ice cream convention his first week on the new job. Frank Weston, himself just back from ten days of conventions in Chicago, joined us for lunch. Frank filched a few of our Cape scallops but filled up mostly on jello, complaining about eight or ten pounds he had gained while away.
They're about to slip us the hook. ... Before we go, don't forget to send Frank your Classdues ... remember, three years for a real...woops!
