Arch Gernert tells of his new daughter Darryl Anne, of his release from the Navy last September, and setting up housekeeping in South Orange, N. J. Arch is with the Home Insurance Cos. in Newark. And a swell note from Tom Burnap's wife "Pete." She tells us Dr. Tom has been in Korea with the Fleet Marine Force at Bunker Hill since last March. "Pete" is living in Hanover with their two little girls and offers to help '46 in any way she can. Thanks heartily "Pete," you'll be hearing from me. You know I've missed the boat by not stirring up you '46 wives. You're the gals that get action our class needs.
Here's congratulations to an always hardworking guy —Jim O'Neil. He resigned from Rockefeller's Venezuela Basic Economy Corporation and opened his own Export-Import business in New Orleans. James E. O'Neil and Associates handle lumber, piling, railroad ties, plastic piping, cattle on the hoof (whoa boy), small craft, fertilizers, new and rebuilt machines and construction equipment primarily to South American ports. Jim and Pat have a little Jimmy Jr. now. You Mardi Gras goers should find a welcome host at "O's" house. Fletch Thomas opened a Law Partnership with his brother Tom '40 with offices in the Majestic building, Denver, Colo. With that perpetual "Old Forrester" bottle on top of one of Denver's finest edifices the "legal eagling" business must be good in this grand town. Fred Klein just moved from Long Island to the Bronx.
"Obe" Obermeyer sent a novel "Welcome Ike" card and tells me bis stories haven't hit Collier's yet, but he has placed several with other publications. "Obe" is with the LongIsland Daily Free Press in Jamaica. He tells about Dick Mason who has taken a threemonth's leave of absence from the food business in Atlantic City to be an assistant cruise director on the SS Niew Amsterdam, tough apples, eh Dick deck tennis anyone! And Steve Kaplan is in the TV Dept. of that well known advertising agency "little 01" BBDO. "Obe" sees Bob Levinson every now and then. Bob is a Navy Lt. j.g. at Bayonne, N. J. For a year now I've been meaning to tell you that one of our very successful artists, Doug LeighJr., is now an Art Director with CampbellEwald, famous ad agency. "Mush" Judson married Betty Cohen this past December in New York. Betty is a Hunter College graduate. They'll live in the city. Phyllis Clarke announced her engagement to Ross Bacon. Phyllis is a graduate of Washington School of Secretaries and is working for Avion Instrument Cos. in Paramus, N. J. Ross is working out in Akron for Grand Duchess Steaks Inc. buy a deep freeze, Ross, and stock up with your finest marriage budgets allow only "Chef Boyardee" spaghetti. Down in Baltimore, Mary Forman and Bud Pogue announced their engagement. Mary attended Maryland Institute and is with Kelly-Nason Inc. in New York. They plan a spring wedding.
Pete Mallett is working for his Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut. Jim and Mrs. JimMorse were in Hanover town in November. They are living in Mason City, lowa. Also taking in the Inn were John Rockwell and his wife up from Needham, Mass. Keep frowning".
