The unveiling of the plaque in memory of Winsor D. Wilkinson 'l0 at the club's cabin in the Sierra Nevada Mountains took place on Sunday, October 7. The club formally acknowledged its debt to "Wilk" Wilkinson by dedicating the cabin's Common Room to him and placing there the bronze memorial plaque. Much of the enthusiasm and work of designing and building this cabin had been done by him. Experienced as an engineer, he was a natural leader for the scores of work-teams which, since World War II, have raised the cabin near Donner Summit in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Memorial tributes made at the time of his death on October 4, 1955, the official class gift and contributions from his classmates made it possible to finish the cabin's expansion earlier than expected and to further decorate it. This work was well carried out by Club Treasurer Carlton J. Ward '32 and President Muirison Keith Taylor '28. The final decorating was done by Art Carpenter '42 and PeteTalbot '38 installed kitchen cabinets.
Following the unveiling by Mrs. Wilkinson was the formal presentation of the plaque by Rev. Harold W. Robinson '10. "Robbie" recalled his freshman days with Wilk, and later Guy Wallick '21 also spoke of his years of friendship with Wilk. Wallick, Alumni Councilor for the area and chairman of one of its committees for bettering alumni organization, besides being vice-president of Pacific Tel. and Tel. Co., is an enthusiastic painter and is working on a view from the Common Room to add to the room's decor. Other speeches heard by the guests, numbering over twoscore, were reviews of the club's history by its officers. Those representing Wilk's class were Fletch Rogers, Rev. Harold Robinson and Guy Carpenter. Unfortunately Mai Bissell and Ken Phelps were unable to come.
