Herman Farwell, in his last letter, invited us to drive with him to the class reunion in June. Slightly earlier came a letter from Chester Studwell asking us to drive up with him. I have accepted his offer. He would scarcely have to go out of his way at all to reach our daughter's house in Weston, Conn. She lives just off of the Merritt Parkway. Thank you, dear Chester. You have doubtless long since received my letter accepting your kind offer.
A letter recently came from President Dickey telling o£ the 200th Anniversary Development Program. The money raised will be in addition to the fund raising now in operation. The present schedule calls for the Capital Gifts Campaign to begin next October. This campaign will be led by Charles J. Zimmerman '23, President of the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company, former chairman of the Alumni Fund and present chairman of the Trustee Committee's Committee on Development. To those of us who know Charlie, the mere fact that he has consented to have his name associated with the plan, gives assurance of success.
Did I write you that as of last June 22nd we had reached 101% of our money quota and 87% of our participation? Pretty good for old timers like us.
A letter from Herbert W. Hill in Hanover tells me of The Hanover Holiday for which he is director. He proposes to send each of us folders describing the Holiday. I hope many of you will plan to attend.
It may interest you to know that for two weeks our daughter and her husband have been here. For a week our granddaughter, her son and husband were with us. Her husband is a Cornell man like his father. Our son-in-law is planning to buy a home in this town. Of course we are delighted.
Do you know that Frank Drake has received the American Petroleum Institute Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement? I have a copy of the accompanying scroll signed by J. L. Harmon, Chairman of the Board, and Frank M. Porter, President.
I am sure that it will interest you all to know that yesterday we had a call from the widow of "Pete" Fletcher 1900. She has a winter home in Winter Park, not too far from us. Two years ago they took Stella into their home while I had an operation in the Orlando Hospital.
