'46s In The News - Our own Rod Beach has recently accomplished a "first"; for the first time in the 52-year history of the College Preparatory School for Girls, a man is going to head the Cincinnati girls' school. That man is our own Rod Beach, who has recently been appointed as headmaster of the school and who for the last four years has taught history and assisted in administrative work at Emma Willard School in Troy, N. Y. After graduating from Dartmouth, Rod took his M.A. at Columbia and had two years of business experience with DuPont in Seaforth, Del Rod's service experiences included three years of duty in the Navy where he ended his tour of duty as commander of a training ship in anti-submarine warfare. Rod and his wife, who attended Chatham Hall in Virginia and Vassar, are the parents of three-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. Rod - it will be nice having you in the Buckeye State. Bill Graulty has been appointed assistant vice president in the Trust Department of the Connecticut Bank and Trust Co. in Hartford. Will, as you know, is an attorney and joined the bank in 1956; you can address the old Beta at 150 Steele Road in West Hartford, Conn. Up in Manchester, Mass., on the North Shore, Ron "Shipwreck" Kelley, "the Sage of northern New Hampshire," is running for election to the Manchester Board of Selectmen. It is unusual that three different campaigners for those jobs were named Kelley. One was an incumbent and Shipwreck and another Kelley (none of the three are related) were the new candidates. Hope you get elected, "Ship." Our own Dr. Bert Schwartz has made the news by collaborating on a book with Dr. Bartholomew Ruggieri, a pediatrician, the title of which is "Parent-Child Tensions" and published by J. B. Lippincott and Co. The book which has had wide publicity in the medical field deals not only with mental disturbances in children but the prevalence of emotionally disturbed parents in homes where children of this kind are found. Dr. Bert is a psychiatrist and has specialized in child care study in recent years. His training has been an extremely fine one; after Medical School and internship at Mary Hitchcock, he had a four-year fellowship in psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic and also did work in psychiatry at the Graduate School of the University of Minnesota. Bert has had many papers published on many subjects including animal and human hypnosis, experimental psychosis, basic early studies with tranquilizers and depth electrography among many others. You can address Bert at 74 South Mountain Ave. in Montclair, N. J.

Lucky Hanover Inn Visitors - last month included "Abie" Hinman down from Rome, N. Y. (seems as though Abe is getting to Hanover quite often), and Eldon Wallingford up from New York City.

The Mail Bag - This month comes a note from Dick Tasso who has moved from Taunton, Mass., to Mt. Vernon, N. Y. Dick has taken a new position as Controller of John David, Inc., the men's wear chain out of New York City. Dick reports catching the Dartmouth-Harvard game last fall with his good buddy, Bill White - they had not seen one another since Hanover. You can address Mr "Clothier" Tasso at the Plymouth House 4-R, 625 Gramatan Ave., Mt. Vernon, New York. It was nice hearing from you, Dick.

'46s 'Round the Girdled Earth - Dick Agnos is in the Air Force as an attorney-advisor and is stationed at Griffis Air Force Base in Rome, N. Y. Ham Bailey is in Weston, Mass., and Bryan Battey is living in the Baltimore suburb of Chevy Chase, Md. George Carr is a Work Methods Engineer with the Kroger Co. in Cincinnati and Bob Craig is living in Gastonia, N. C. Don Elliott is in "the insurance game" as District Group Sales Manager for the Prudential in Kansas City. Rog Foster is back in his home town of Lunenburg, Mass., Dune Gibson is in Bean Town and Andy Gruninger is in Fanwood, N. J. Lt. Bill Hann is still in the Navy in the Saipan District in the South Pacific. BobLyon is in Bradley, Ill., and Paul Malinosky is an underwriter in the home office of the Conn. General Life in Hartford. Newt Miler is still in the service and is based in the South Pacific out of San Francisco. Bruce O'Brien, as we have told you before, is with the Federal Mutual Insurance Co., but is headquartering back in Boston. Al Rigby is in the banking business and is living in Belleville, N. J., while Ora Curry is in Syosset in upstate New York; Nort Virgien has left the Granite State of N. H. and is now working in Boston and can be addressed at 75 Brook St., Wellesley 81, Mass. Bob Hubbard is living in West Springfield, Mass., and RudyLorraine, the old lacrosse player, can be addressed at 3811 N. Broadway in Chicago. Handsome Fritz Lothman is in Oakland, Calif, (he's married, girls), and Dave Perkins would love to hear from friends at 17 Liberty St., Newington, Conn.

This month also brought sad news to our class - Bob Grant finally succumbed in his battle with crippling multiple sclerosis. We all admired Bobby's dauntless courage since he was afflicted in 1946. He will be remembered and admired by everyone of us who knew him and his circumstances. The In Memoriam article should appear in the MAGAZINE either this month or next and our deepest sympathy goes to his father Robert in Cambridge, Mass.

That's it gang - don't forget to put your check in the mail for the all important Alumni Fund Campaign - Bill Schulting,Dave Weld and their many other workers will appreciate it.
