01' Gus doesn't have a whole lot of news this month as the mail bag is rather empty. I would, however, like to give Bill Schulting and Dave Weld and all their many workers on the Alumni Fund a big boost. By now you all have received mailings both from the College and our Class about your gifts. All of you are aware of the Capital Gifts Campaign but this will not be substituted for the Fund until next year for most of us (there are a few in our Class who will be considered in the Advance Gifts Group because of probable sizable contributions). Won't you give the Fund your immediate attention and send along your check or pledge to Bill or one of his men right away?

Well, speaking of our illustrious Class Agent Bill Schulting, I have the the delightful pleasure of telling you that "our Bill" (the nine letterman and "Frank Merriwell" of New Hampton School before Hanover) finally took the bridal step. He and Anna Lizak were married on March 14, in the First Presbyterian Church in Passaic, N.J.; Ann and Bill will reside in that area where Bill continues to run his thriving general insurance agency.

Also among those to be congratulated are Reg and Nancy Pierce who announce the arrival of Robert Angus Pierce on February 25. Bob makes the fifth boy of the "team" of six little Pierces. You can address our erstwhile, "arm waving" Class Chairman and his tribe at 101 Maher Ave., in Greenwich, Conn. Reg, as you know, is an advertising account executive for Kenyon and Eckhardt in the Big City and is handling some very prominent accounts including that of the Chase Manhattan Bank.

The press this month brings a very exalting and complimentary article about our own Howard Samuel. Howie, who is living at 7 Sherman Ave., in White Plains, has recently collaborated with two other authors on "Government in America," a single-term book designed to introduce college students and laymen to the intricacies of American government - national, state and local. Howie has been very active in Democratic Party affairs and is presently Vice Chairman of the Westchester County Democratic Party, in addition to his work as Assistant to the President of the Sidney Hillman Foundation of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. After Dartmouth, Howie did graduate work at Columbia before getting into the labor union field. This is the second book that Howie has written and both have been adopted by many schools; his previous work was Congress at Work" in 1952, which was written after a year of research in Washington. Howie and wife have lived in White plains since 1949 and have three sons — congrats, Howie!

Your editor recently took in the NCAA Basketball championships at Louisville and while we didn't see any '46s there, there were plenty of '44s in attendance - Bill Crag and John Berry '44s, both from our town were down for the games in addition to a sales meeting of their company, the L.M. Berry Company (telephone directory yellow page advertising) and Bud Welch, also '44. their Louisville Manager hosted a party at his home which pretty much turned into a Dartmouth affair. At Saturday night's finale (between Kentucky and Seattle) I had the pleasure of sitting with my good friend and fraternity brother, Joe Vancisen '44, the former Big Green basketball great, who is now head coach at Yale. Joe's team beat the Green at Hanover but he had much respect and admiration for Doggie Julian and the fine Dartmouth team that went to the re- gional NCAA finals at Charlotte, N.C. While I was away the Big Green Glee Club put on a marvelous concert here in Dayton and our local group made a few sheckels for the Dayton Dartmouth Scholarship Fund.

Three or four of your officers, including your Secretary, plan to be in Hanover on May 2 and 3, for the Annual Class Officers Meeting and I will have a full report for you in the next issue.

As mentioned before, the mail bag is empty so let's hear from you.

Secretary,
