Barbara and Bud Hoban, after 44 years directing their impressive boys' camp "Wallula" on little Lake Sunapee, have decided to discontinue their work in the camp field. At the present time they have no definite plans for the camp property but will probably ably sell some of the land for residences and offer the present buildings for rental or for sale. They are spending the winter in their new home at 2639 Fillmore St., Hollywood, Fla.
Alma White advised Lyme Armes that Lee White suffered a coronary thrombosis in January at the Holly Inn, Pinehurst, N.C., and is recuperating at the Inn before starting for home. Our latest report is that he is improving and we certainly wish him both a speedy and full recovery.
Doc O'Connor advised that Mrs. Hugh C. Eaton of Manchester Center, Vt., died February 8. Your Secretary wrote Floyd Eaton, Hugh's son, for further details but has no additional information to date.
Randy Burns has headed for Tavernier, Fla., to continue his fishing and sun bathing where he left off last winter. He stopped off on his way south to visit with the Charles E. McCarthys at Falls Church, Va. Before leaving White Plains he phoned to advise that he had just driven Florence and Roy Lewis down from Lebanon to make plane connections for San Antonio, Texas, to attend the funeral of Guy Lewis. Roy advised that Guy was in the hospital there and died February 8 while undergoing a serious operation. The sincere sympathy of all Guy's classmates and friends is extended to his wife, Frances, and to his children and to Florence and Roy in their great loss.
A letter from Lloyd Eaton, son of Hugh C. Eaton from Chandler, Ariz., advised that his mother had passed away suddenly in her sleep from a heart attack, February 8. She was born in Boston, Mass., September 17, 1890, and for the past six winters had come to the San Marcos Hotel in Chandler where Lloyd was the night manager. Two years ago Lloyd and his mother bought the Echo Lake Inn in Tyson, Vt., where she was assisting Lloyd in its operation. Lloyd is planning on attending our Informal Reunion this June for at least part of it. The sincere sympathy of Hugh's classmates is extended to Lloyd in his sudden and great loss.
Mark Allen writes that Ella is now well on the road to recovery after long months of illness from various causes that complicated diagnosis and delayed convalescence with new set-backs including an onset of Asian flu which floored both of them in January. Better luck, Mark, and better health too for you both this year.
"Heinie" Urion is enjoying his retirement in pretty good health too but is still troubled with imbalance at times. He was hoping to receive a visit from the "Eddie" Luitwielers on their return trip from Florida. The Luitwielers stopped off at Norwalk, Conn., on their way South to see their fourteenth grandchild, a seven-pound baby girl.
On the evening of February 12 your Secretary attended the organization smoker of a new Alumni Club, the Tri County Club of New Jersey. Sixty-five new members from Middlesex, Union, and Somerset Counties attended and listened to the latest news of Hanover from Eugene Hotchkiss III, Associate Dean of the College, and to the best wishes of the North Jersey Alumni Club for their success as extended by their President Bert Englert '41.
According to news along the grapevine "Doc" Burnham, chairman, has completed arrangements for our 48th Informal Reunion at Coonamessett in North Falmouth, Cape Cod, Mass. The date is set for the weekend of June 17 and 18 and more details will be coming your way soon. Make your plans to be there early; it's just around the corner and later than you think!
Ben Adams has been touring the Southland in his Simca this winter; so far he has dropped in to visit with "Jogger" Elcock in Atlanta, Ga.; Norton Webber in Tampa, Fla.; the "Chief" Wheelers in their motel in Clearwater, Fla.; the "Al" Smiths in their "Pink Jewel" in North Redington Beach, St. Petersburg burg, Fla.; and also the "Pat" Lovells of 305 Sixth Ave. of that same city. How many more he may cover before his trip is over is up to Ben but it looks like a record in the making.
