After some forty minutes of cheers, applause and thundering bravos he went back on stage to introduce encores in Russian to the jammed audience in the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Moscow, on October 6. A sampling of comments concerning the Juilliard String Quartet (under the Soviet Union-United States culturalexchange program) were: "Magnificent harmony and purity of sound," "Deep penetration into the conceptions of the composers," "Played as if the instruments were parts of their bodies," "You are technically and stylistically perfect." The 1800 pairs of ears refused to leave until after the fourth encore. ... The opening of the New York Dartmouth Club Quarters, on 42nd St., was attended by President Dickey, Governor Rockefeller, Al Phipps, Ray Reitman, DickMorton, John Sawyer, Red Adams, JacksonAdams and Al Butler.
Spike Daniels is the Man of the Month with his appointment as Manager of Trade Relations for the American Cyanamid Co. of Bound Brook, N. J. He'll be located at the firm's corporate headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York. Spike has been with American Cyanamid since graduation and for the past year served as division manager of services. He is active in the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association and is a member of the American Chemical Society. Community affairs also take up part of Spike's time, for he is an elder of the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church and is president of the family counseling service of Somerset County.

Benezet's article, "The Trouble With Excellence," merited lead mention on the cover of the October 21 issue of Saturday Review Line Wilson '13 bumped elbows (literally) in a Paris restaurant, with Dick Brierley, now living in Belgium with his family. Dick has just been elected vicepresident and secretary of Drackett Co. . . . Ray Reitman's wife Margaret is hoping to win the election for Freeholder in South Orange, N. J.
Lawrence Marx Jr. has been elected president of the Home for Aged and Infirm Hebrews of New York. He has been a member of the board of trustees since 1949.
