The teonis team finished third in the New England Intercollegiates and with a 15-5 overall record for the season. Gordie Aydelott wound up his college career with a mark of 41 wins and 11 losses in singles competition. Two other seniors, Jim Biggs and Phil Meyer were 34-19 and 38-13 respectively over three years of varsity play.
Recognition should also be given junior Dave Smoyer who had a 14-6 record for the current season and the late-btos soming of John Morrison who had six victories in seven matches.
In the final matches of the season Cornell and Amherst were beaten by the identical score of 6-3.
Tommy Keane's 1962 Dartmouth golfers were the surprise team of the season winning six of their last eight matches and putting together an overall 8-4 record. The non-senior team compiled the best record of any golf team in the past five years.
Returning from their southern road trip with a 2-2 mark, the golfers then caught fire, losing only to Williams and Army by one point while downing Boston College, Brown, Middlebury, Harvard, Amherst and Springfield. Sophomore Dick Payne of Worcester, Mass., won his final eight matches for a 9-3 record, while Spence Hirshberg, Dick Leukart and Tom Rand all contributed to the winning record.
