The elongation of the month of February by one day has enabled me to prepare this monthly missive with care and forethought, to research my vacuum-ous files with intensity, and to forward my labors to the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE somewhat in advance of their ever-present deadline. And the extra day was desperately needed, for you are all obviously saving your momentous news for June's reunion. Good! See you then.
In New England, March is the time of Town Meeting and town election. And because Dartmouth men seem to have a penchant for politics, I was not a bit surprised to receive news of several aspirants for public office among the august members of our class. For instance, Robert L. Allen, Director of Public Relations of the Kendall Corporation of Boston and a resident of Lincoln, Mass., announced his candidacy in January for membership on the Lincoln Planning Board. Bob has been extremely active in town affairs since leaving Hanover and moving to Lincoln in 1959. At the other end of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Al Madenski was in the running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Hadley. Al is a graduate of the Northampton Commercial College and is assistant treasurer of the Amherst Savings Bank. He serves on the Finance Board and the School Building Need Committee. He was elected unopposed for two terms as Hadley Water Supply District treasurer and is a member of the Lions Club, American Legion, and Hadley Young Men's Club. A busy man! I'd like to know about the rest of you budding politicians; I'm sure there are many.

Nuptials for Vin Malahan who, in early February, married Miss Jean Ellen McCallum of New York City. Vin is Professor of English at New York State University College at Oneonta and holds a master's degree from Columbia University.
Kurt Konigsbacher's wife, Renee, sent me a very welcome January letter informing me that Kurt has been made vice president of Evans Research and Development Corporation of New York City. The Konigsbachers, now residing in Stamford, Conn., have two children, Sue, 17, and Peter, 12, who, Renee says, is looking forward to Dartmouth. In fact, the whole family is looking forward to next June when they will all be at Reunion.
Al Russell can be located in Marshall- town, lowa, where he is in the Education Department of Lennox Industries.
