Christmas time again and my how the years go by. Seems like I've been at this job for a lifetime. But one of the redeeming factors of a position such as this is the feeling of pleasure I get every year when the time comes to wish one and all a Merry Christmas. It's as if you were all here and the greeting was delivered personally. At times like this the warmth and comradeship of an organization such as ours seems its most powerful. The season is one of friendship and giving and I hope it's not too much to ask each one of you to give a thought to a classmate. Better still, drop a line on your Christmas card. We'd all like to hear from you.

While this is the season of sleigh bells, that doesn't mean that they are the only kind ringing. Although their ding dong has died in the distance, wedding bells have rung for several more of our classmates. Way back in May, Lew Steenken tripped and fell into the arms of Miss Shirley Rae Simmons of Bloomfield, Conn. Shirley is a graduate of Cushing Academy and Simmons College in Boston. And in August, an august soul, one Stan Quackenbush of Worcester, Mass., entered the holy halls of matrimony with Mrs. Carol Kern of Kearsarge, N. H. Stan is a comptroller with the Worcester County Institution for Savings.

As you remember, I mentioned the dedication ceremonies for the Peter Brundageski lodge took place on Sept. 28. Rog Brownhas very kindly sent me a brief resume ofwhat took place and I'm sure you'll want tohear.

"There was a big turnout for the exercises, including John Halstead, Burt Hicock, John White, and myself, who were among Pete's close friends before the war split us up.... Hanoverian 45's were unable to attend because of alumni officers' meetings, flubugs, etc., but word was received from as far away as Bob Cate, who sent "warm greetings from the mouth of the Amazon.' Others from whom word was received were Bob Lee in New Haven, Major Fred Campbell in Camp Lejeune, Syd Bowers '44 in Saudi Arabia, and Phil Viereck '48 in nearby Bennington." Thanks, Rog.

Also enclosed in this letter was the wording on the plaque on the lodge. "The Robert Peter Brundage Lodge, in memory of Pete Brundage '45, Second Lieutenant, United States Marine Corps Reserve; killed in action, Okinawa, May 3, 1945. Dedicated by his friends in the Outing Club who felt the impact of his enthusiasm, leadership, and friendly example and shared his love for the out-of-doors. This lodge is the gift of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Brundage, Class of 1916."

Your ever active Class Agent, Eliot Mover, President of Bunny Bear, Inc., has been elected Chairman of the New England Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization. Congratulations, Ellie. Wonder how Dick Johnson, running for alderman-at-large in Woburn, Mass., and Jerry Farrell, seeking the office of councilman in Springfield, made out in their quests? Bob Aldom served this year as town chairman for Roseland in the West Essex, N. J., United Fund Drive. Jack Hemingway is now located with Merrill, Lynch in Havana, Cuba, living at Miramar, if any of you are Cuba-bound this winter in search of sun and sea.

And that's it for this year. See you all in 1958. And if you have neglected Treasurer Oldfield's plaintive pleas, please pass a pocketful of pennies in his direction. The poor man's hair is turning grey in your service. Merry Christmas, everyone, and may the New Year bring happiness and health.
