It appears that there may really be something to this leap year gimmick. Throughout the country, since January 1, '58's have been falling by the matrimonial wayside in near record numbers. Further, the number of engagement notices that I have seen indicates that the trend presently shows no signs of reversal.
It is only fitting, however, before relaying the news of current year ventures, that we mention a wedding which took place last summer, that of Miss Pat Dufficy and Larry Bill. Although this may be ancient history to many of us, regrettably the news escaped the pages of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Incidentally, Larry recently expressed some concern (certainly justifiable) over my ability to provide myself with an adequate quantity of cigars. This is a refreshing new concept as Church Pew and Dick Osgood, whom I have the rather dubious fortune of viewing at various and sundry Dartmouth alumni functions in the Boston area, express an equal amount of concern over my ability to supply them with an adequate quantity of the same item. This concern has increased several fold since the release of the Surgeon General's report concerning cigarette smoking.

They plan to be married in May. Graf Berger, who has his MBA degree from Harvard, and is now working in Cleveland, and Miss Elizabeth H. Thompson of Kansas City, Mo., have announced plans to file down the aisle in the near future. Miss Jane Elizabeth Shevlin and Lt. (j.g.) Bill Walsh are looking forward to a summer wedding. At a recent social gathering in Boston, I ran into Bill Smith, who is presently in the midst of his third year at Boston University Medical School. Although he was headed for the slopes the following morning at 5 A.M., and therefore felt he should forsake excessive revelry and depart at a reasonable hour, I did have an opportunity to extract a little information concerning his activities since 1958. Bill began his postgraduate educational endeavors in geology. Convinced that his interests lay elsewhere, Bill completed his military obligation and subse- quently coached skiing at Dartmouth in 1960-1961.
