Once again we all have completed those delightful summer vacations, which with the advent of the new jets, are ranging farther than ever these days. I hope all of you enjoyed yourselves whether it was a trip to Europe, a nearby lake or seashore, or just sitting in the backyard and perfecting your culinary ability on the barbecued chicken. The usual build-up of class news occurred during the summer, but I did not have an opportunity to see any of you, with the exception of a very pleasant day spent here with Marv and Buzzy Axelrod during which Marv and I had our annual battle on the links.
During a short business trip to Alabama, it was great talking to Ed Shipper on the phone. "Ed is now in the building supply business in Florence and things are going very well in his new venture. He and Cheri have two boys and three girls with their youngest, Susan, now fifteen months old. Ed is active in the Democratic Organization in his area and had Dick Donahue come down for a talk. Incidentally, the influence of the Kennedys is stiil with Dick and Nancy as they won't let Bobby get ahead of them - they each recently had their ninth child.
While on the subject of children, it is time to report that Rita and Shorty Johnson now have a two-year-old daughter, Claudia, after six sons previously. Fla., to become Associate Professor of Education and Director of Teacher Education at Florida Presbyterian College which Dick describes as "only five years old, but has captured the highest calibre student body of any Florida institution."
The college is partly experimental, which Dick prefers, and he will be spending part of his time in Administration. Dick and Huldah say they would love to have someone who lives in Vermont exchange houses during Christmas vacation as the Bredenbergs would like to continue skiing, even though they live in Florida.
A few days ago Lou Perry visited EarlChambers in Providence, where Earl has been a trust officer with the Rhode Island Hospital Trust Company. They will be moving to the very lovely Rochester suburb of Brighton to live very soon.
