One good thing about the football season in addition to seeing the team win is the opportunity to cheer with some other '48's and visit with them. We really had a good turnout this year at the Yale game and although I saw many classmates around me, I am sure there were some whom I missed in the mob. Anyway, here are a few I spotted.

Just behind me Barney Hoisington was enjoying the game with his two sons. Dave and Joyce Kurr were there with the Hatheways and friends. Very nearby also were Bill and Dorothy Pruden, Dirk Kuzmier,Gil and Sissy Shattuck, and Ellie and Jim Schaefer were just below yelling loudly. Milt and Dede Kurtz came in a little late after consuming a large tailgate luncheon beforehand. It was also nice to chat with Joe Smith who is still working with the Irish Airlines computer installation as the IBM representative. It had been a long time since I had seen Bob Bryan who was with his family and indicated they plan to be in Hanover for reunion next June.

The Royal Crown Bottling Company had a large sales meeting in New York and Larry and Joan Brisbin came up from Huntington. We spent a very enjoyable evening dining together while catching up on family activities, etc. They both looked very well and said they have been playing a lot of tennis. Their daughter, Alana is at boarding school while the other children are still at home.

At our reunion committee meeting the other night, at which, incidentally, Reunion Chairman, Dick Barlow revealed that he has already made arrangements for a very exciting weekend with the details to be forwarded to the class imminently, Phil Ruegger told me his son Pete had been accepted at Dartmouth on early decision. All the Rueggers are thrilled to have a member of the family in Hanover as Gloria has fond memories of the senior year spent there with Phil. Pete was on the track team and president of the Student Council in his school. I believe that congratulations are particularly in order for Phil as he is the first member of the class to my knowledge (please let me know if incorrect) who has had a son admitted and planning to attend Dartmouth. The Rueggers live in Metuchen, N.J., where Phil is a residential home builder. There are two other sons in the family, Jim, and Tom.

I was pleased to hear that Paul Henanerich's widow, Nancy, now Nancy Decker has remarried and is living in Winchester, Mass. She reports her son, Paul A. Hemmerich is in his senior year at Governor Dummer Academy and is applying to Dartmouth where if admitted he hopes to study engineering.

The Stanley Works, Connecticut manufacturers of tools and hardware, has appointed Fran Hummel director of marketing coordination for consumer divisions. He will continue to serve as general marketing manager for Stanley Hardware, a post he's held since 1963. Previously, Fran was marketing manager for The Bassick Company, in Bridgeport. He is a graduate of Tuck and has taught marketing there and at the University - Massachusetts.

The Springfield Daily News has added crack sportswriter, Jim Fox to its staff. Jim. who is a bachelor, is now living in West Springfield, Mass. For many years, he was on the staff of the Greenfield Recorder Gazette and was well-known in the area having covered the gamut of sporting activity for sixteen years. I hope he has seen Bill Burke who also lives in West Springfield and works at the Monsanto Chemical plant nearby.

Larry Werther moved to a lovely home in Tenafiy, N.J., late in the summer from adjacent Englewood as their daughters are getting to be big girls and Sandra wanted more room. Larry is a physician in New York City specializing in internal medicine.

I just heard that John Anderson has moved from Gilroy to Menlo Park, Calif. John is a medical bioanalyst with the Malkin Laboratories.

Usually, I see Phil and Carol Johnson at the Yale Game, but I missed them this year. The reason, I presume, is because Phil is kept busy around the house. The Johnsons just moved to a lovely home in a beautiful section of Ridgewood, N.J. I'm sure their growing three sons and daughter, who is now seven, are happy about the move. Phil is a doctor specializing in radiology.

It sure was great to hear of the high honor accorded Mike Shea just elected president of the Vermont Association of Insurance Agents at their meeting in September in Vergennes, Vt. Mike's agency, Paige and Campbell, is located in Barre. He is also a member of the New England Advisory Board of Insurance Agents and a member of the Governor's Special Committee to recodify the banking and insurance laws. Congratulations from all of us for your past and continuing success, Mike. The Sheas have four children and live in Montpelier.

Even though it seems a long time between the festivities of the present Christmas season and our reunion next June, now is the time to start planning, because already we have had terrific interest in the wonderful arrangements Dick Barlow has already made for us. There will be many more classmates back than ever before and incidentally many are bringing their children. For those interested in seeing friends from other classes '46 and '47 will be there also and we are having a joint dance with them on Saturday night.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR to all '4B's both big and small.
