We have just a few social events to cover prior to turning to the more mundane and perhaps plebeian aspects of the pursuit of whatever we may be pursuing. From Hanover, we have learned that Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bradley became the proud parents of a son, Jeffrey Chapman, born at Mary Hitchcock on August 14. Dave is a relatively new member of the Hanover law firm of Cotton, Tesreau, Stebbins, and Johnson.
Married in June at Lake Tahoe, Nev., were Dr. Mai Hibbard and the former Miss Karen L. Bone of Carson City. Mai, a "rocks" major at Dartmouth, obtained his master's degree in geology at the University of Washington in 1960 and, in 1962, his doctorate at the same institution. He is currently in the midst of his third year as an assistant professor in geology at the University of Nevada in Reno. The Hibbards are now living in Virginia City, Nev.
In all probability, the following two engagements have by now manifested themselves in marriages; however, with our highspeed data transmission circuitry out of commission, we have been unable to verify whether or not such is the case. Miss Carolyn Palmer, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Phil Wood announced, in late July, their intention to file down the aisle in the near future. Phil, now a lawyer, graduated from the University of Michigan Law School. Also planning to be married are Miss Sally Anne Stroufe and Phil Webster. Sally is (or was) a stewardess with United Air Lines, based in Denver. Phil is working in the Industrial Sales Department of United States Gypsum Company and is living in Montclair, N. J.
Turning now to other noteworthy notes, we note that congratulations are in order for Kynaston McShine, who was recently named to the new post of curator of painting and sculpture at the Jewish Museum in New York. This new curatorship is an indication of the growth of the Museum's interest in this area. Until this time there has been but one curator of Judaica.
Sam Hunter, the director of the Museum, said that Kynaston would play an important role in the Museum's exhibition, education, and publications program. During the first year he will be directing an exhibition by younger American and European sculptors. Prior to obtaining this position, Kynaston was senior assistant in the department of circulating exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art. He has done graduate work in art history at the University of Michigan and at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University.
In July, John J. Conklin was named assistant to the chief of psychiatric social services for the Connecticut State Department of Mental Health. A trained social worker, Jack had worked four years at Connecticut Valley Hospital before going to England this past year to work in a mental hospital in that country. Speaking of going to England, we find that Gerry Pinciss has gone to London to do research at the University of London and to travel throughout Europe. In recognition of his outstanding academic achievement in English and Comparative Literature, Gerry was appointed a William Bayard Traveling Fellow by Columbia University, where he has completed the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
In other news in the field of education, Andy Petersen, now living in North Reading. Mass., has been appointed to the faculty of Bentley College in Boston as an instructor in accounting. Andy, who spent four years in the Navy following Tuck School, has been in the public accounting field for the past two years. The Petersens now have two children, Kirsten Anne, 4, and Jeffrey Lincoln, 3. Bob Lafleur was recently promoted to assistant professor at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va., where he is also the director of the school's honor system. Bob has been the recipient of two Woodrow Wilson fellowships and a Fulbright scholarship and is the author of college textbooks in both medieval history and educational psychology. He has advanced degrees from Harvard and Columbia. Bob has been teaching at Mary Baldwin for over two years.
We might now take a look at one of the country's better known bars. John Coulter was named to the Bar of New York State in June. Coults, who graduated from Albany Law School, and is now a lieutenant in the Naval Reserve, is associated with the Poughkeepsie law firm of Quartararo and Quartararo. Also admitted to the New York bar was Bill Stevens. Bill, who graduated from Syracuse University Law School in 1963, is presently a clerk in the Rome firm of O'Shea, Griffin, Jones, and McGlaughlin.
Al Weiner, a member of the New Haven law firm of Garvey, Colleran and Weiner and the present treasurer of the New Haven County Bar Association, has been named a co-chairman of the Leadership Development Division of the New Haven Jewish Welfare Fund - United Jewish Appeal campaign. He is also a member of the Board of Jewish Family Service and of the Jewish Community Council. Al obtained his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School.

Let's look at a few brief items of news to the extent that space permits. Walter W. (Rink) DeWitt, wife Dorothy, and two sons, are now living in Manchester, N. H., where Rink is working for the Manchester Savings Bank. Rink wrapped up his M.B.A. degree at Tuck School in June, after serving five years as an officer in the Air Force. Hugh Fox received his LL.B. degree from Rutgers in June. Leslie J. Tenn-Lyn is now a civil engineer, working in Kingston, Jamaica.
