George Steele, our president, suffered a coronary in late August while in New York and was confined to the Roosevelt Hospital in that city for several weeks. He has improved quite rapidly and has now returned to his home in Wellesley Hills, Mass., for rest and recuperation. He will have to keep quiet for a few weeks but is on the way to full recovery.

From Marc Wright we learn of the sudden death of his brother Henry of the Class of 1917 in July 1966. Many of us in the class knew "Heinie" and are very sorry to hear of his passing.

Les and Louise Ashton also sent a card that they were traveling in Europe and regretted they could not be with us at Hanover but sent their best regards. A card was received from Mr. J. L. Mason, Ashland, Ohio stating that Robert C. McCoy is unable to travel and could not attend the reunion. His address is: - Sunset Villa Rest Home, R.F.D. #5, Wooster, Ohio. No doubt he would appreciate a card or letter from his friends in our class.

Line and Lucy Wilson wrote that they could not come East because of the distance. They are both in good health and time does not drag with either of them. They make jam and jelly in fruit season and marmalade with real orange in it, not just juice. Line plans to enter some in the County Fair. He plays the piano and golf, the latter better than the former. They have moved to 211 Elm Street, San Mateo, Calif. 94401.

Harve McClary was sorry he could not come to our reunion. He has not been feeling his best and the long trip was a problem. He is improving in health, however. CarlShumway was prominently mentioned in an article in the Boston Herald Magazine section of September 4, 1966 under the title "The Golden Anniversary for Naval Airmen." Carl was associated with the Naval Aviation Reserve from 1917 until his retirement at age 60 and had many experiences in both W.W. I and II. He started his duties as a lieutenant and rose to rank of commander. A more detailed report of this article will be published in our next class letter.

A total of 33, wives and friends included, attended our 53rd informal class reunion, Sept. 30-Oct. 2-3 held at the Hanover Inn. The traditional "Sundown" gathering was held in the Inn Tavern at 5:30 p.m., Friday the 30. This was followed by dinner in the Inn dining room where tables had been reserved for our use. Saturday noon most of us had luncheon together at the White Cupboard Inn at Woodstock, Vt. Saturday night we enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner at the Drake Room at Hopkins Center which was served from the kitchens of the Hanover Inn. Everyone was in a good mood in spite of the football team's loss of the game with H.C. 7-6 in the afternoon. Bill Towler presided as toastmaster and called on many of those present for appropriate remarks. The fall foliage at Hanover was at its height and all of us enjoyed visiting together and renewing old associations.
