Classmates in the Chicago area have accomplished something that many of us in large cities have been talking about for years, but never get around to doing anything about. Under the guidance of DickLoewenthal they had a class get-together in the form of a '53 Christmas Luncheon. Attending were Phil Fast, Bob Henderson, Jack Senne, Paul Arenberg, Barry Schoder, Bob Lambert, Jim Ziesel, Dave Burner, Herb Borovsky, Jack Huck, Gib Warren, and Dick Loewenthal. Dick reports that the lunch was very pleasant and the debut of others to come.

I had an interesting letter from Dr. DavidSiegal who is currently on active duty with the Army Reserve in Viet Nam. Dave was called up last March and shortly thereafter found himself in Nha Trang, Viet Nam where he is the general surgeon at the Eighth Field Hospital. He says that professionally the assignment is excellent, but needless to say the one year separation from his family is no fun. He was one of the surgeons who took care of Capt. Roger Donlon who was recently awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Before the Army, Dave was a resident at the University of Minnesota where he met his wife, the former Bonita Marlis Robinson. They have one child, William Eugene, whom Dave has not seen since just after his birth. After Viet Nam Dave expects to be sent to Fort Carson, Colo., probably in April or May. He says it's lonely over there and would love to hear from classmates. His address is Eighth Field Hospital, APO San Francisco, 96240.

Speaking of doctors, Dr. Adolph Franz has recently established practice in Concord, N. H., where he is specializing in orthopedics. "Sammy" was discharged last July from the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He is married to the former Lois Smith and they have three daughters and one son. Bob Michael has accepted a position with the City of Billings, Mont., where he will be their new airport manager. Bob has spent the last five years working with the Port of New York Authority and has been primarily associated with management at Kennedy International Airport.

A double tax deduction goes to Tom andArlene Bloomer who came up with twin boys, Peter and David, on December 3. Bob and Gail Malin had their first child, a daughter, Alison Campbell, on December 19 and just managed to make the deduction deadline. Chip Luce writes from Paris that he has just been transferred there as permanent representative of Manufacturers Hanover Bank. He also reports the birth of a daughter, Ilaril Isabel, on November 10.

Norm Carpenter brings up an interesting question. He wants to know how many babies were born to members of our class in March, 1964, nine months after reunion. He notes that Al Collins, Skip Thompson and he all had children then and also that they had dinner together during reunion. Do we have any other "reunion babies' in the Class?

The Dartmouth picture at the Fred Whittemore-Marion Willi wedding (see cut) probably broke the attendance record for similar photographs.
