I received quite a bit of Dartmouth mail this past month which was certainly needed and appreciated. I'd like to hear more from the wives than. I do. I notice that their letters and cards are usually more complete and informative. I suppose they're not as bashful about a husband's accomplishments as he might be. At any rate I'd like to extend an invitation to all the '53 wives to write and bring us up-to-date on your latest activities.
News isn't so plentiful that I can afford to lose letters which is exactly what I did. Had a long and interesting letter from Henri Williams and after reading it promptly proceeded to misplace it. Out of three or four pages all I can remember is that Henri is in Washington, D. C., and has been working on an advanced degree at Howard University. I've set-up a new filing system and can guarantee that this is my first and last lost letter. Also had a short note from HerbHartley who recently went through a fast and unexpected job change. Herb was with the "ill-starred" investment firm of Ira Haupt & Co. which made the financial headlines late last fall. Herb is now with Kidder, Peabody & Co. and is working at their 10 East 45th Street office in New York.

I hate to keep talking about twins, but Warren and Nancy Wentworth did not have the twins as predicted by many. Four days after reunion Nancy gave birth to Timothy Rogers who weighed-in at 9 pounds, 4 ounces. Nancy advises us that Warren is a tax consultant with Haskins and Sells, the well-known public accounting firm, and commutes daily to Boston from their home in Beverly. Other not so recent births include Andrew Preston to the Sherm Hortons and Peter Mahlon to the Bob Hendersons. They became potential Dartmouth students on October 23 and November 15 respectively.

I had a humorous letter from Herb Solow and would love to print parts of it here but why get him fired from his job? Herb is Director of Daytime Programs with the National Broadcasting Company in Los Angeles. He would have done better except it took him four years to learn that NBC was in the broadcasting business rather than biscuits and cookies. Among other choice bits of information he tells me that he lives in Brentwood which is really Los Angeles 49 but it's considered more high class to live in Brentwood than Los Angeles 49, so he lives m Brentwood. He left "good old dirty New York" three years ago and went to "good old dirty California" where it is also hot and dusty. Please telephone before dropping-in since his German Shepherd doesn't take to unannounced visitors. You'll have no trouble remembering his phone number - just dial GR 2-3286 and you'll be dialing GRADBUM. As Herb says, "It's collegiate and indicative."
