The great class of '57 has done it! It has made the unique 1966 Blitz Campaign a grand success. At this writing we have reached more than 75% of our dollar objective and more than 65% of the class has contributed. No other class has done anything like it before and I am sure the Blitz concept will have great impact on future Alumni Fund Campaigns.
Twelve months from now a great many of us will be enjoying that long anticipated This will be the first of many reminbers that the big 10th will be a must for all of us who can make it.
Now for news: Ed Bessey recently was ap- pointed as assistant product manager for Pfizer Laboratories, a division of Charles Pfizer r & Co In the new position, Ed is responsible for marketing planning for five ethical drug products. Prior to joining Pfizer ? 1964 Ed was associated with Lehn & £iProducts. Ed and his family reside m 'Wains N. J. John Hewitt has been nmoted to senior investment analyst for T ihertv MiSual Insurance Co. of Boston. Vtn has been associated with Liberty MuLaf since graduation from Harvard Business School. John, his spouse and two offspring are living in Needham,
One of our classmates doing important work in Latin America is John Lange, who worK is in Asuncion, Paraguay, as Economic Adviser to the President of the Central Bank of Paraguay and as Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund. John has been with the Fund since 1963 and was Desk Officer for Argentina prior to his present post. Before getting into the international monetary field he was at Columbia University where he was a Samuel Bronfman Fellow in Democratic Free Enterprise at the graduate business school and an Lternationaf Fellow of the Umversity In 1961 John and Bob Young landed on the same destroyer in Newport, R. I., when they were recalled to active duty in the Navy. With John in Asuncion are his wife Sonja, son Mark, 4, and daughter Elisabeth, 1. They expect to be there for about a year.
George Haines has become a prospective bridegroom since his engagement to Ellen Niemer of Dusseldorf, Germany. The brideto-be is a graduate of Helene Lang Gymnasium in Dusseldorf. George is a career Foreign Service officer and a vice consul in Dusseldorf. Tony Williamson is living in St. Johns, Newfoundland, where he is associated with the Institute of Social and Economic Research, Memorial University.
Pete Diemand has been transferred to a rather exotic Southeast Asian post for Colgate-Palmolive. Pete's new address is c/o Colgate-Palmolive, Ltd., Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. Another Far East transferee is John Griffin who was sent to Japan by his employer, Gray Co. Prior to this move, John was stationed in Minneapolis.
Russ Berry has a title on his door. .. Account Executive ... at CBS in New York City. Dr. Paul Brenner is a member of the staff of the Boston Lying In Hospital.
Toddler: There is only one addition to announce this month and that is Christopher Resor Canfield who was born April 16, and of course the proud parents are Ginny and Dave Canfield.
Subtract another bachelor from the everdwindling "hold out" list. . . . John Harper announced his engagement to Sally Zachary of Graham, N. C. A July wedding is planned. Larry Lubow and spouse Sue have given up Texas for the Bronx. Larry is in his second year of residency at Montefiore Hospital. Bob King of Menlo Park is the newly elected vice president of the Dartmouth Club of Northern California.
There seem to be a few '57 doctors on the move: Dr. Dave Kemper has established residence in Cincinnati, his former address being Atlanta, Ga. Captain Al Taylor is attached to the 249 th U.S. Army General Hospital in Japan. Dr. Bob Caldwell is a member of the surgical staff of Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N. Y.
Last July Dr. Dan White, a graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine, having completed his years of internship and residency at Harper Hospital in Detroit, opened his own office for the practice of medicine in Detroit. Seven months later he announced its closing. Dr. Dan White is now also Captain Dan White, U.S. Air Force Medical Service. He has just completed his aerospace "orientation" at Gunter Air Force Base, Alabama, and is on assignment with a unit in Vietnam - a long way from a private practice in Detroit.
