Fall is here and time once again for class secretaries to rise slowly from the sandy beach, push away the pile of accumulated beer cans, stretch, yawn, cast off the dark glasses, and like a bear coming out of hibernation slowly test the limbs and reflexes, fumble for the pen, squint at the bright sun, and within a matter of minutes put together the usual wity, well-organized informative class notes. While I have been working in high gear all summer I find it impossible to shift out of '48 fatigue and in nine point four seconds be turning out a cool column at turnpike speed. Therefore, your indulgence is needed and remember, no news is good news!

Dave Loye is the author of "The Healing of a Nation" published by Norton last June. Dave's an editor of books on urban problems and education and his most recent book is described as "A Psychological and sociological study of racism in the United States, with an original program for political and social reform." A psychologist and writer, he is completing his doctorate in social psychology at the New School for Social Research. Dave is with the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N. J. where he lives with his wife Billy and four children.

Gordon Robertson has been named service engineering manager of the Ford Customer Service Division. Gordon joined Ford in 1951 and has held various positions with Ford which have included responsibility in quality control of the engine and foundry division, manager of the engine test department, service operations manager of the national service office and manager of the service management and product problem control departments. Gordon lives in Grosse Point, Mich., and is president of the Detroit Chapter, National Association of Service Managers.

Jerold Lucey is a pediatrician on the staff of the University of Vermont Medical School. He was recently made chief of the Editorial Board of "Pediatrics" and will be visiting Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Hawaii during October and November this year. Daughter Colleen, age 21, is a junior at Swathmore, Cathy has just entered University of Vermont and David is going to high school in Burlington. It was a nice note from Jerold and it would seem that life in Burlington agrees with him and his family.

A line from Bob Merriam, headmaster of the Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, Massachusetts, echoes the sentiment of other school administrators throughout the country. "I find independent school educa- tion demanding these days, but feel there is a place for the boarding school in America."

The Class Executive Committee will hold its customary fall meeting in Hanover on the morning of October 9, 1971. This is a good chance to catch up on Class Doings and, at the same time, see the Pennsylvania Game so why not plan a trip to Hanover. All members of the Class are invited. We usually meet at 10:00 a.m. in the Bird Room of the Museum! but for final details, if you plan to be present, I would suggest you check with the Alumni Office. Hope to see you there.
