The Hanover Convalescent Center, where I am well cared for, is gathering patients, some of whom are with it and some of whom unfortunately not. My friends, here, are a fine group of people, and there are a dedicated lot of employees and nurses who make us quite comfortable. I have not had any visits from classmates or near classmates recently, but I am promised one from Helen and Arthur Chivers in the near future. Their son, Howard, of camp and Skiway and skiing fame, reports them well. Howard's delightful wife Jane (Gile) was made the first female trustee of Mary Hitchcock Hospital, signifying great personal and family contributions to the health of New Hampshire and Vermont.
Ducky Drake's Christmas card contains greetings and wishes for my recovery and that I will be my "old self again." His hand is firm and we suspect that Ducky will be shortly en route to the island off the Florida coast.
Chet Studwell says he has a news clipping with my picture telling of my age and about me. It could have been one of several — the 66th wedding anniversary, September 1; my 93rd birthday, October 29; or the one in the "Hospital Highlights, featuring Jane Gile Chivers. Your classmates would like to hear more about you, Chet.
Fred Bradley of 425 Cloverleaf Dr., Monrovia, Calif. 91016 writes Sincere thanks for your beautiful card and for remembering me after nearly a lifetime out of touch owing to my constant ill health almost from the day of graduation and the distance from the rest of you. Naturally under the circumstances, I find it good to be remembered as one of us in the class of 1902."
Harold E. Plumer sends a beautiful card from Hawaii. His message to all of us is; "May you have the Joy of attaining that most satisfying 'Peace of Mind' that adjusts your Religion to scientific Truths, that matures your Faith into Knowledge and develops your Ideals into Reality. While my health is remarkably good for one in his 92nd year, Old Man Time is steadily taking his toll, but I haven't missed a meal since coming to this island a little over five years ago."
I know that all of you will wish to send cards to Harry W. MacKinnon at 525 So. Yelvington Ave., Clearwater, Fla. 33516. Harry writes, "Thanks for your lovely card. What a view of New Hampshire. My doctors have booked me Jan. 6 and
13 — both eyes operated. It is that or blindness. I can barely see now." All of us expect that when this issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE reaches you, you will be well on the road to recovery. Good luck.
There is a longer letter from JohnWalker which I shall save for the March issue, but there are cards from the following which will provide news in future issues; Jennie Thompson, Hermon Farwell, Mrs. George ("Ethel") Dow, Mrs. H. F. Parker, Clara Farr (with picture), Mrs. J. L. Genevieve Huntingdon, Warren and Hazel Wells. My card from Mrs. Arthur Houghton in Dearborn, Mich., was returned. Thank you for the great response and may you all have good health in 1971.
