Howie Mullin sent on a note from Merritt Joslyn with a photograph of Merritt and his attractive family taken at their Hinsdale, Ill., home and a clipping from a Waynesville, N. C., paper. This was an interesting story on Frell Owl, whom the writer referred to as "a living example or a retired civic leader working harder than ever," and Frell's brother, George Owl.- In his note Merritt reported that back in October he had played in the North and South Invitational Golf Tournament at Pinehurst and had run into Paul Revere O'Connell, also playing as reported here earlier.
Cam Clokey wrote from Sun City Renter, Fla., on his return birthday card, "Nice to have the birthday greetings. Sara's and my grazing ground for the next few months will be getting the new home settled—and organized ... I see Doane Arnold has plans to locate in the 'Mother' Sun City" (Arizona)—"hope he enjoys it as we do here . . . Gordon Smith sure has His old hand with the sketchbook! Greeting to him."
Also from Florida came word from Elmer Zimmerman that he is "collecting fond memories and friends, reading about the low temperatures in New England, Photographing sunny landscapes in Florida, traveling through sunny Florida." He also comments, "No politics, no baby-sitting, some girl-watching, and NO skiing," but he does go in for "Lawn Bowling! And it's quite a game!!"
Gene Sullivan reports doing some traveling and some elbow-bending, but also occupies himself with restoring antiques and with oil painting. Hople Hope lists fishing, sailing ("monkey wrench sailor"), and skiing ("water—and I have medicare") as his Grazing Grounds. And an anonymous card has golf, fishing, elbow-bending, and girl-watching indicated, with the last item circled twice, a device which may or may not contain a message.
You probably saw in the January 25th issue of "The Bulletin" the story of the appointment of Vic Reynolds as editor and publisher of the newly established University Press of New England, but this is a good place to say Congratulations to Vic on behalf of the whole Class. With his background and experience he seems an ideal choice for this important post, and we all wish him success and happiness in it.
