Another month has rolled around bringing a deadline for this column but not much in the way of class news. From the Boston Herald Traveler I have learned via Paul Urion that Ben Ames Williams Jr., formerly president of Old Colony Trust Company has been named executive vice president of First National Bank of Boston which operates as a subsidiary of the First National Boston Corp.
I also got an announcement from GusSouthworth that after much soul searching he has decided to leave Chemical Bank in New York where he has been employed for a score or more of years. He would be interested in a new affiliation in the field of finance. He leaves as a vice president.
Paul P. Merrill M.D. of Weston, Mass., has been promoted to the tenure post of Professor of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard. John is the Director of the Cardiorenal Service at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, a post he has held since 1952, and is physician on the Hospitals medical staff. At the Peter Bent Brigham, in 1954, he was a member of the medical- surgical team which, in 1954, performed the first successful kidney transplant in identical human twins.
I have been instructed by President Paul Urion himself to beat the drum for the Xhird Century Fund. I am sure that many classmates, like myself, will give what they can but just haven't sent in the pledge. Better do it right now. You'll probably be making so much money this year that the tax dedications will be a blessing.
