I guess we have to give thanks for football weekends since they provide our opportunities to get together. It sure was nice seeing all of you who made it up for Princeton. Remember November 11,Houseparties and Columbia Game Party after the Game at FACULTY LOUNGEOF HOPKINS CENTER. Let me know if you can make it, please, and how many of you will be there so I don't run out of anything.
This has been one of the most colorful falls since the great one in 1964 when most of us were still wearing our beanies. It is hard for us to walk around the leaf-strewn campus and see so many coeds! Not hard on the eyes ... just hard to get used to. They are exceptional girls, I can vouch for that.
Our new class treasurer Skip Water-house sends his first report to notify us that as of last month 123 classmates have returned their dues cards with payment. Many have also been kind enough to supply newsy notes which I will share with you.
Chris Meigher has switched jobs in the new alignment of Time, Inc.'s circulation department. He has been promoted from assistant to the advertising director of Time to circulation director of Fortune. Chris swam his way to three varsity letters at College, and belonged to Theta Delta Chi and Casque and Gauntlet. His affiliation with the Old School remains—he is a governor of th Dartmouth Club of New York.
Edward Schneider, according to word from his employer, has been appointed an assistant commercial banking officer of New York's Marine Midland Bank. He went on from the College to earn his Master of Business Administration from Harvard in 1970, the same year he joined Marine Midland as a management associate. Preston Prudente is now out of the Navy and will probably be pursuing an MBA degree next year. Preston is currently residing in Spokane, Wash. Sandy Dunlap married Claudia Kinraide on August 5, and Chuck Woodworth made it to the wedding. Sandy is continuing to work in Boston while studying part-time for his MBA at Boston University. Chuck, by the way, is living in Allendale, N. J., and is still Lt. Jg. Woodworth to the best of my knowledge.
Ron Hinckley writes that wife Cathy gave birth to their first child, a girl, whom they named Patricia Helen. Ron is starting his second year of graduate work in political science at the University of Southern California and should have all the course work completed by June for his Ph.D. Good luck, Ron, and congratulations from the Class to all three of you.
Rodney Hawkins writes of an address change to North Vancouver, B. C., Canada, and also that he is finishing his last year of law school. Next year Rod will be with Freeman, Freeman Silvers and Koffman of Vancouver. Ed Bloomberg- is now living in Buffalo where he joined the law firm of Phillips, Lytle, Hitchcock, Blaine and Huber. Ed graduated from Harvard Law in June of this year, and cum laude, at that. Nice going, Ed. Thanks for writing.
We also heard from Bill Goller. Bill has moved from Lewiston, N. Y., to Philadelphia and dropped the "lt.jg" from his name. He enjoyed being in the Navy where he got to be navigator of the USS WAIN WRIGHT, a rather sophisticated guided missle frigate, which Bill navigated through an entire around-the-world deployment. Sounds exciting! He is now following up an interest in medicine having begun four years of study at the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine.
Jim and Patricia Harty are way ahead of some of us. They write that son Patric is three years old, and daughter Patricia is one and a half. After four years in the Navy, Jim finished in August. Living in L.A. where he is studying to be a stockbroker with duPont Glore Forgan, Inc., Jim will complete school in February and return to the Washington, D. C., office to work. Investment counseling? Look him up!
Was sorry to hear that Ed and HammieHeald had their car stolen in Boston. Divine retribution for leaving Vermont, I guess. Ed is also in investment counseling.
Sounds like interesting work that Lt.Hale Irwin is keeping busy with. He is a captain in the Marine Corps, flying helicopters with Squadron One in Quantico, Va. Hale's missions have included troop support, research and development of four types of helicopters, to transportation for the President of the United States.
I think the rest will keep for December. Please send me the latest news. If you haven't sent in your return post card, please do so. I need that data. Hope you all had a swell fall. Eric
