Despite the cold of the past month, which was considerable, the stage of the Hopkins Center was bathed in warmth and a few tears as Henry Williams, one of the most colorful and dedicated of Dartmouth's grand old professors, wrapped up his official theatrical career with an outstanding production of Gilbert and Sullivan's
"The Mikado." Many of our classmates remember Henry Williams with a mixture of affection and awe. He began his work at Dartmouth in 1931, developed a style and a system that never failed to entertain, and ended with a "Mikado" that .could only be called brilliant. From the Class of 1968 wish him and his dedicated wife Becky years of happy and well-earned rest, though I know that there is no retirement for a man of the theatre.
At the closing night ceremonies of "The Mikado" I saw Dennis Wolshonak, who had arrived from Las Vegas where he ha been a member of the road show company of "Fiddler on the Roof." Dennis informed me that he hoped to be able to find some work closer to home, perhaps on the upcoming production of "Guys and Dolls and pay back some of the money he still owes the College. I told him there were many of us in that situation but to be glad we don't attend the College today.
Jon Page must not be forgotten as we speak of funds. Please send him your $10.00 dues if you have not done so already. We don't want a single classmate to stop getting the Alumni Mag. . an unbilical cord to Hanover which not to be severed. Non-grads and guys who left Dartmouth before graduation are urged to continue with us especially. We are all part of the Class of '68, and we all have friends whom whom we shared many fine experiences with. One final note as well while speaking of dues dollars and Dartmouth: Scout around to discover which place closest to where you live has a Dartmouth Alumni Club.
Jon Page's last letter mentioned that after the Princeton victory on November 20 he had a chance to meet and chat with fellow '68s Dan Bort, Sherwood Guernsey, BillIdler and Dick LaFrance.
