To 1948 a "Happy Ground Hog Day!" At this point the winter has been relatively mild and I say this with the hope that we'll take a real pasting and the skiing will be fantastic!

Speaking of skiing, we have just returned from a "skiing" weekend in Vermont. A five-hour ride over icy roads to get there, one automobile accident (the only thing damaged being the car), one child vomiting the last half of the way, I had the flu the two days we were there, a six-hour ride home over even icier roads, one child vomiting all the way home, so you can picture my humour as I start the notes. By the way, I'll be home all next weekend.

Carl Ward's wife Ruth wrote a nice note recently. Carl is accounting manager for New England Telephone and Telegraph in Springfield, Mass. Their oldest son Jon graduated from Ohio State University in March of last year and is presently a second lieutenant in the army. Dale, their second son, is a junior at the University of Connecticut. Daughter Martha is a sophomore at Bates College. Ruth is newly employed as church secretary and based on her note ought to do an excellent job.

In fact, the few pieces of correspondence I receive from '48 wives are excellent. Therefore, if your husband is the usual modest, retiring '48er, do not hesitate ladies to write about him and the family! Your comments are not only welcome, they are urgently solicited.

Al Battison has passed his 20th mile-tone with IBM in engineering. Daughter Judith is a junior at the State University of New York Brockport. Daughters Janice and Joan are active skiers. Al reports he is still skiing, flying and ham radioing. In another year and a half he will have had his ham radio license 40 years. They live in Vestal, N. Y., and Al is adjutant of a Veterans Flying Post with two aircraft, vice chairman Central N. Y. QTR Wireless Operators and past chairman Binghamton Section of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

Ed Nadeau of Glens Falls, N. Y., was recently a candidate for City Court Judge. After graduating, Ed earned his law degree at Albany Law School and was subsequently awarded a doctor of laws degree. He has practiced law in New York for 18 years specializing in trial practice. Ed most recently has served as city attorney and is an arbitrator with the American Arbitrator Association and is a member of the American Legion and Marine Corps League. Ed and Marion have four daughters, ages thirteen to eight.
