George Stone, a principal in the Hill & Stone Insurance Agency based in Highland Park, Ill., reports that he, Chris Whiney, Charlie Hatton, and Dave Thompson get together annually for apparently off-beat hiking trips. In October they met in Big Bend National Park and subsequently swam across the Rio Grande "to flee a wild heard of Javelinas which invaded our campsite after an off-key rendition of' Eskimo Nell.'"
Kurt Somerville has been inducted into the National Rowing Hall of Fame as a member of the 1980 Olympic Men's Heavyweight Eight. Despite the U.S. boycott of the Moscow games, that team defeated all but one of the Olympic finalists and won the Henley Grand Challenge cup that summer.
Lori Cupp has accepted a three-year position as a surgeon at the Indian Medical Center in Gallup, N.M. After graduating from Dartmouth, Lori, a sociology major, began working as a research assistant in a neuro- physiology lab. Her boss, University of New Mexico Neurologist Dr. Gary Rosenberg convinced her to consider medical school. After completing a number of pre-med courses at the University of New Mexico, she was accepted at Stanford. Lori is the first female surgeon in the Navajo Nation.
