Our annual vacation in the South brought happy reunions with classmates and contemporaries. Many have made Florida their permanent residence. We found the Dartmouth population increasing rapidly in the southern part of the state. Monty Mountcastle continues to direct the activities of the Dartmouth Club of Fort Lauderdale. A lucky seven met one day for lunch at Heilman's, though not as many old timers as usual. 1932 was represented by Ed Stuhrman, a consultant who has moved to Florida from Washington, and "Whip" Walser, a resident importer and exporter.

Rocky Hayes '19, and Alice Earle have a beautiful apartment in Delray where Rock not only keeps in touch with neighboring classmates, but also lends a hand in the rapid expansion of Paine Webber Jackson Curtis service in the area.

It was "Brown Day" at the monthly Ivy League meeting in Sarasota. We learned from the speaker that Federal grants to private institutions have been greatly curtailed. Increasing competition with public educational facilities indicates the need for more alumni support. We met a few Dartmouth men there, including Walt Henshaw '21.

Pauline Hutchins and her daughter Frances Armstrong were gracious hostesses at Pauline's attractive new home on Siesta Key. The walls of the library reflect past accomplishments of "Mose" including a citation from President Nixon, in appreciation of his service in World War II.

Gil Swett, we are sorry to report, shows no improvement, but is well cared for in a local nursing home. Jane keeps busy at her secretarial duties at her church. Her son and daughter-in-law live nearby and provide her with other diversion and interest.

In Lucile Towler's living room at Sun City Center there are two fine grand pianos and it appears that they are not idle. She has met several other gifted musicians at the Center who join her in giving informal concerts in her home or larger ones in the local auditorium. While we were enjoying lunch with Lucille at King's Inn, Jim Cone, complete with fez, stopped to greet us. He had just come from a luncheon of the Bahia Shrine. We hope to see these Sun City residents in Hanover.

In Dunedin, we checked up on Bill Eaton. He not only has excellent care at the Pines Manor Nursing Home, but also the devoted attention of his sister Mrs. Isabel Hulen who visits him daily.

On March 14, the Dartmouth Club of Central Vermont heard a fine talk by Bud Fesperman, assistant football coach at the College. He showed movies of some of Dartmouth's Ivy League Championship play. Ten prospective students, eight boys and two girls, were guests at the dinner.

Let's have a good response when we call for " '17 up" at the Post 50th, in June.
