Nobody knows better than my predecessor that this column is little more than a clearing house for news and without input from the field the output becomes a little strained. I'm sure that's why this column has received a news release from Allied Mills in Chicago stating that Harry Ambrose has been named corporate vice president for purchasing and alfalfa operations. Harry joined Allied in 1974 after 15 years experience in purchasing and commodities management. He holds an MBA from Creighton University and lives with his wife Marge and his three children in Winnetka, Ill. He no longer faces a monthly deadline for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
Word also comes from Harry that Don Bowey has been with the Morton Salt Company since 1967. He is responsible for their institutional foods operations, concentrating in the area of packaging condiments. He lives with his family in Chicago.
A release from the A. T. Cross Company of Lincoln, Rhode Island, brings news that WebWilde has been named advertising and sales promotion manager of their export company. Web has been with the company since 1967. In his new position he will have overall managerial responsibility for advertising, sales promotion, and merchandising for the firm that markets Cross pens and desk sets in more than 145 markets world-wide.
Herb Darling has just been elected president of the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences and is in the midst of a two-year fund drive to renovate the Buffalo Museum of Science. Herb would be most happy to hear from any Buffalo area classmates who are interested in helping this cause.
John French has recently been elected chairman of the Committee for Franconia Notch which is composed of representatives of the Appalachian Mountain Club, Sierra Club and other New England environmental groups. They are about to launch a fund-raising drive to block a proposed federal highway through the Notch.
