Boy, did summer fly by. Received no entries on the "first-to-catch-poison-ivy contest," so I'm stuck with an ocean of calamine lotion ("Late at night when you're sleepin, poison ivy comes a creepin, around...."). That also means that you missed out on the album of the Dartmouthaires (erstwhile Injunaires) wah-hoo-wahing songs to suffer by. Oh well, now for the news:

1. Hall of Fame: Fran Hanlon has become a partner in the prestigious Boston law firm of Ropes and Gray. (It's amazing how such a quiet spoken guy ends up a "mouthpiece"). Congratulations, Fran. Larry Danson writes that in April he was promoted to associate professor (tenured) of English at Princeton. (How to hold that tiger, Larry). This past summer he, his wife Mimi, and their two children (Joshua 3 and Benjamin 6) spent their time at the Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English, (Middlebury College, Vt.) where he taught Russian Gust kidding, it was English). Bill Craig, a partner in the New Haven law firm of Wiggin and Dana, was appointed by the mayor of that city to the board of finance. I can see the headline now in the New Haven Gazette, "Bill's board bars bribery and bagmen." Let's all give a rouse(?) for these Hall of Famers.

2. General Babbling: Did anyone notice in the April Alumni Mag that in the ad for the Dartmouth National Bank, Tony Orr was a trust officer. As per the ad, Tony came to the bank with a Tuck M.B.A. and investment experience in New York and Boston. To quote the ad, he serves as a trust officer for "one of the finest trust departments in the North Country. His Hanover knowledge is also helpful." (He must be a tour guide on weekends.) (Ain't so, Ed.)

Dick Gaumer writes that he had a "raucous Fall ('75) with attempts to establish a basic research division within the dental school of the University of Minnesota. Dental activities (immunology) coupled with intense community activities (Citizens Advisory Council — City of Minneapolis) and church activities (Episcopal church: steering committee of promotion of women's ordinations) kept me very busy." Richard wanted me to pass this info on to our classmates: 1) dental floss is better than toothpicks, 2) disposable paper cups should be used in bathrooms to prevent spread of germs, and 3) nine out of ten dentists do not recom- mend Lavoris.

Fred Meils has a new job with Pepsi (which is bad for your teeth, too — right Dick?). He is a vice-president. He says he is trying to spend as much time as possible up at his house in New Hampshire with his wife Mary Ann, and their three boys (Douglas 916, Matthew 6, and John 4½). (Pepsi used to give me gas, but since Fred is big wig there, I'll try it again.)
