How many of you look at this column hoping to read something interesting regarding a classmate and are usually disappointed? There are two reasons for this. You and me. Therefore, I am going to suggest that if you call me collect at (214) 748-7831 and alert me to a juicy tid-bit, then I will blow it all out of proportion and publish it here. Otherwise, you will continue to be inundated with such exciting news as a classmate being promoted to assistant vice president or elected a director or typical press release information that is sent to the college. So let's hear from Dave Perry, Dave Kerr, Bob Schuh, Don Purple, Arnold Kroll, Chuck Beard, Bill Benson, George Yeager, and Dave Whiteford.

In the interim, I can tell you that Ross Campbell, who left Dartmouth at the end of our sophomore year, is alive and prospering in Philadelphia. An institutional salesman with Janney, Montgomery Scott, Ross got his degree at Wharton after a service tour, married late, and works hard on his golf game, as indicated by his five handicap. Handsome as ever, and weighing some ten pounds lighter than we remember him, Ross is somewhat embittered by his Dartmouth experience yet has a warm spot for many of his classmates, some of whom he keeps in close touch.

Mott Hupfel returned to and has remained in Wilmington, Del., where he began his business career as a securities analyst and became a co-founder and director of Wilmington Capital Management, an investment advisory firm managing several hundred million and which has an enviable record during the past five years, registering performance in the top 5 per cent of all firms in the country. Although not yet old enough to start playing golf, Mott feels young enough to still play hockey several times a week during the winter as well as coach in a junior hockey program.

Chapel Hill, N.C., is about as lovely a place to live and work as can be found in this country and Will Carleton is happily situated there as a professor in the business school at the University of North Carolina, teaching finance, money and banking, and economics. Fortunately, the Carletons have the best of both worlds as they spend their summers in Hanover.

When Toby and Nancy Julian inherited the centuries-old farm in Union Village, just north of Norwich, Vt., they did not realize the impact the farm would have on their lives. Their daughters decided that they would rather live in Vermont and attend school in Hanover than live in Atlanta and now New Jersey with Toby and Nancy. But Toby and Nancy like the farm too, so they commute many weekends throughout the year, only to be faced with a perpetual list of repairs that have to be done to the property. Although the inheritance appears to be a mixed blessing at times, they seem to enjoy every minute and long for the day when they can call it their only home.

As you are well aware, soccer is booming throughout the country as a participation sport, and nowhere is it booming more than in Dallas. Responsibility for the interest does not go to Kyle Rote Jr., but rather to our classmate, JohnChapman. Chapman organized a junior program in the Dallas suburb of Richardson that has been so successful that communities throughout the country are emulating the program. Over 30,000 boys and girls participate and John can be seen either playing, coaching or cheering when he is not working as a geologist.

Alan Welty, who joined the Liggett Group in Durham, N.C., in 1966, has recently been named as manager of compensation and benefits for the company. Active in community affairs, Alan is married and has three children.

We all owe Em Houck a vote of thanks for his ten-year service to the Class and College as head agent. Super job and dedication!
