My plea for news was answered! I thank you, my pen thanks you, your classmates thank you.
From sunny Florida where Bill and MaryBlanchard have set up shop, cometh news of a new addition, daughter Laura Paige. Mary writes that she and Bill met and married while both were students at University of Virginia. Bill, not satisfied with being a past president of our own Class, was also president of his medschool class and went on to become chief resi- dent and Pediatric Cardiology Fellow at the University of Florida. He is currently a pediatrician for the Navy at Pensacola, a place you jet jockeys know well.
The great Steve Borofsky was in town in March for a conference and a couple of beers, staying with a former classmate from Columbia Law School who happens to live at the same address as I. It was fun to ponder the past antics of the Richardson Rapiers and to hear that Linda and Steve have a daughter now, Deborah Nicole, who helps Steve with his late night work as a busy attorney in Manchester, N.H.
David Peck writes from historical Plymouth, Mass., that he and Diane had their first child, Eben Andrew (November), with David present and assisting at the birth. He spent last fall studying for prepared childbirth and for his exams to qualify for registration as an architect ... passed both with flying colors! David has been with an architectural firm in Plymouth for the past two years. He also reports that Bobbyand Nancy Lynn had their second child in January (Minneapolis) with a midwife attending ... daughter Morgan is now two. Diane Peck and Nancy Lynn are both Wheaton, class of'7o.
Charlene and Jeff Hinman announced the arrival of Jacob Jeffrey in February... birth statistics indicate he'll be big like his daddy, who is still with the Rome Strip Steel Co., Inc. Rome, N.Y. On February 26, the United Nations announced that Jeff was one of six photographers who took first prize in the international photo competition, "A Better Way to Live," organized by HABITAT, U.N. Conference on Human Settlements in collaboration with FIAP (International Federation of Photographic Art). Jeff not only gets a pat on the back for this one, but a free round trip (Air Canada) to Vancouver, 8.C., to attend the opening of the HABITAT photo exhibition and conference. No small trick to come up a winner when competing with 1,000 photographers from 77 countries and 5,275 photo entries. Jeff was the only American among the winners. Thanks for keeping the USA on top Jeff... do we get to see the picture sometime?
Thanks to Wayne Wadhams for a thoroughly creative and musical note. Wayne and Austin De Besche, entrepreneurial types, are owners of "Film Associates" in Cambridge, Mass., and the recording studio, "Studio-B," in Boston. Film Associates had two short films in Academy Awards competition: What Time isthe Next Swan?, a documentary about Sarah Caldwell, was directed by Wayne and didn't get a final nomination, but partner Alan Beattie's dramatic short Double Talk, did! Studio-B released an album produced by Wayne, entitled Chef's Salad, which got "fairly rave reviews" in national trade magazines. Result? Stu Nunnery, one of the artists, has signed to record for Columbia Records. His producer? Wayne, of course.

While sipping green beer left over from St Patricks Day, the color and taste reminded me of the good old days at Dartmouth. I thought about the excellent administration and faculty, the coaches, the staff, and of course the students who eventually become part of the strong alum- ni body which so generously and enthusiastically supports the continued excellence of the College. Alas, I said, the time of year has come when not only do I reminisce, but take action as well. I sit down, remembering that I am better off this year than last, and write a cheque to the Alumni Fund with the thought of participation, teamwork, and the loyalty that I share with so many others. I hope each and every one of you will join me . . . keep me posted on your activities!
