This month's news includes a number of engagements and weddings, to wit:
Jim Dagianis was married to Ann Marie Dobbins in Haverill, Mass., on July 23. RichardDills and Jean Kelter were wed on June 25 in Hood River, Ore., where Richard is a high school English teacher.
Douglas Cranford and Joyce Vogt have become engaged, and plan a June 1979 wedding. Doug is a mechanical designer at the M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, Mass. His fiance is a physical education instructor at Shore Country Day School in Beverly, Mass.
Also engaged are Edward Pratt and Jamie McNeil. Ed is a branch manager of the Mayflower Cooperative Bank in Rockland, Mass. Jamie is a senior at Bridgewater State College, majoring in adapted physical education.
On the medical scene, William Bisbee has become the first physician assistant to practice in Southern Piscataquis County, Maine. He and his wife Elaine, who is a registered nurse, and their daughter Kristen, will reside in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. Recently honored in Newton, Mass., was Grover Baxley, who has completed his second year of residency at St. Elizabeth's Hospital there.
Now in private legal practice is MichaelThornton, who with William Mulvey has opened a law office in Portsmouth, N.H. Mike and his partner were formerly with the firm of Burns, Bryant, Hinchey, Cox and Shea in Dover, N.H.
Starring in a new play at the Eastern Slope Playhouse in North Conway, N.H., is MarkArnott, who plays a social worker in TheCrashing of Moses Flying By, written by resident playwright Adam LeFevre.
New Dartmouth authors include Elliot Noma and Jim Harris. Elliot, together with Dartmouth psychology professor John C. Baird, has written Fundamentals of Scaling and Psychophysics, published by John Wiley & Sons. Elliot is a graduate student in psychology at the University of Michigan. My old roommate Harris, who always was listening to longplaying records of bird calls, will have his master's thesis on peregrine falcons published by the University of Missouri Press next spring.
In the mailbag this month was a lengthy letter from Bob Paul, who recently graduated from Georgetown Law School and is now associated with the law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York City. Also associated with that office is Mark Stover. Bob writes that he is in touch with BrookMcCann, who works for the investment banking and securities firm of Dillon, Read, and that Allen Pattee is with New York Telephone Company in White Plains. Allen and his wife Terri have a daughter Bethany. Also among Bob's recent class contacts are Dan Holland and Rick Zimmerman. Dan, who lives with his wife Marilyn in Washington, D.C., is a customs officer. Marilyn is currently a dental student at the University of Maryland. Rick and his wife Jayn are building their own home outside Toledo, Ohio.
Herb Mansmann called recently to say that he is enrolled in the M.B.A. program at Temple University in Philadelphia. Another surprise caller was Jim Birchall, who with his wife Anne is enjoying life in Birmingham, Ala., where he is an attorney.
Locally, Chip Carstensen will be returning from New York this month to work for the Chicago office of Citicorp.
