Spring appears to be a distinct possibility this year in Chicago, despite erratic blasts of wind and freezing temperatures. I hope the new season finds all of you in good health and refreshed spirits. Quite a backlog of news developed over the winter, so here goes.

Tom Kendall and his wife Nancy were both candidates last November for the school committee in Auburn, Maine. Tom is a salesman with Veribest Systems, which sells accounting systems and small computers. He also served last month as a protocol officer at the Winter Olympic Games. Nancy, who has degrees from Mt. Holyoke College and Middlebury College, is the director of the Parent and Childbirth Education Association in Auburn.

Dave Mitchell and his wife Barbara became parents last September 29 when Matthew Wellington Mitchell was born. The three of them are living in the Chicago area, where Dave works for Abbot Laboratories. Another Chicagoan is Jim Tilden, a district manager for the Equitable Life Assurance Society.

Other new parents are Peter Betts and his wife Jennifer. Their daughter Allison was also born in September. Peter is working in Hartford, Conn., for Aetna Life and Casualty in the financial planning area. He recently heard from Pace Poag, who is a new father of a baby girl, Catherine. Pace is in the broadcasting business in Greensboro, N.C. Peter wrote further that Vance Kinlaw is a lawyer in North Carolina, and Kirk Friedland and Jeff Stephens are attorneys in Florida.

Still deep in the heart of Texas is Bill Pollock, who is a lawyer in Dallas and the father of two girls. Reid Andrews is a staff associate at the Social Science Research Council in New York City, where he directs a program of grants and fellowships to support research on Latin America and the Caribbean. He and his wife Roye Werner have a baby daughter, Lena Gabriella.

San Diego is home for Joe Ferguson, who is a resident in urology at the Naval Regional Medical Center there. He and his wife have two children, Andrew (two years old) and Ann (ten months).

Rick Oehler has migrated from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., where he is an attorney for the Justice Department. Bryan Toth, who is the senior resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Wrote that he stays in touch with"the old Kappa Sigs Dave Friend, Doug Bate, and Steve Webster."

Mike Meehan is selling investment management of pension and profit sharing plans in Rochester, N.Y. He played last fall in the alumni soccer game in Hanover, won by the alums, 2-1

gob Sutcliffe, a lawyer in Bangor, Maine, and his wife Nina are the new parents of a baby girl Lisa Jerome, born last October. Another lawyer in the class is Kirk Portmann, currently practicing in Seattle. Journalist Andy Cassel is now working at the Miami Herald, editing a local section. Practicing law on his own is Jack Curley, whose wife Anne wrote that they are both well and keeping busy in Leominster, Mass.
