When you read this it's early spring where most of the '42s live, but where I live and when I wrote it, the weatherman predicts a brisk 25 degrees below zero this evening!

It must be the weather as the news has hit a new low — quantity — not quality. For instance:

Ed Spiegel was recently elected to a two-year term as chairman of the American Paper Institute. It's a distinct honor for Ed, as the position usually goes to someone from the East or West Coast — but as we all know, Ed hangs his business hat in St. Louis, Mo.

Ad Winship reports on a Dartmouth dinner meeting in Chicago where he chatted with DickHiggins and Bob Dewey. Ad reports that both gentlemen are up, about, and are able to take nourishment.

Sticking with dinner meetings — there was a huge dinner at the Waldorf in New York on February 23 and the class dinner chairman for the Great Class of 1942 was none other than Mr. Milton L. Williams. All hands presume that you represented us in superb fashion, Milt.

An apology to Sheriff Parmer — thank you for your newsworthy letter — but I lost it! I spend a large part of this column grousing about lack of news, and when I received yours, I read it and lost it. To the Sheriff and other '42s — try me again. I've turned over a new blanket.

Brrrrr and good night.
