I had a letter from the Stu Russells indicating that Jane is making a good recovery from her operation. They went to Chicago for four days and plan to spend some time on the Cape in September. I hope to see them at that time. Jane enclosed a letter she had received from Bill Jackson (Fats Jackson's son), in which he said Hon was recovering from the hip operation she had, but still has some problems. Bill is at the Lawrenceville School.
Staff Hudson's daughter, Carol Hudson Rykert, lives in Toronto. She recently sent in a very generous contribution to the Alumni Fund in Staffs name. She says she enjoys keeping in touch with the College and the class through the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
A letter from Henry Holley's wife Elizabeth tells of Henry's death. She said Henry enjoyed the MAGAZINE and "Smoke Signal" and she hopes she is kept on the mailing list.
Red Murphy died in August, and I attended the funeral services. He was associated with me in Graybar, and for a period of time we roomed together in Baltimore. We had many good times and I shall miss him greatly. At the funeral, many went out of their way to speak of the many charitable things Red had done for different people in the town.
Mildred Chipman called recently. She is well and still lives in Norwell, Mass., but in a different house.
A letter from Art Stackpole told of his inability to attend reunion because of illness. He sent a "Wah-Hoo-Wah for all '19ers and their ladies." Wah-Hoo-Wah is not tabu with Art or, incidentally, with many others.
Larry McCutcheon thanks me for the birthday card but not for the birthdays. He again invites me to visit him at Pompano Beach, Fla., but as matters now stand I will go to Arizona next winter. I plan to go to the Wigwam, which is in Litchfield Park, 17 miles from Phoenix.
I do not have the exact figures on the Alumni Fund, but I do know that the class made a good showing. We owe a debt of gratitude to NockWallis for his untiring efforts.
