The New York Futures Exchange, a subsidiary of the New York Stock Exchange, has just elected three new members to its board of directors. Among them is Dick Blanchard. Dick is executive vice president, investments, for American Express Company and lives in Convent Station, N.J.
Another recent electee is Jake Gidney, who was chosen for a three-year term on the governing council of the 148,000-member American Institute of Certified Public Ac- countants. Jake heads his own CPA firm in Reno, Nev., and is also president of the Mountain States Con- ference of CPAs. He started out in the East with the international accounting firm of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells, but moved his base of operations to Reno in 1962.
We're in a position to flesh out a couple of the address changes we gave you recently. DougAtwood, whose reassignment to New Delhi was reported, adds: "June transfer from Afghanistan was in time to miss the political upheavals that we didn't need any more of. Back in India for second tour, now directing CARE's largest program in my 18th year abroad with the organization." And DanProvost explains his move from N.C. to N.J.: "Have relocated back to the New York area. Montvale, where the Garden State Parkway crosses the N.J.-N.Y. state line, is a campus setting of 20-odd corporate headquarters. Very remote wooded area, but very accessible to the Big A and all transportation, and 300 miles is a lot closer to Hanover then 800 miles."
And one update: In June we passed on word tat Chuck Reed had moved from one town in Wisconsin to another. Now comes a later advisory. The Reeds are, according to latest report, at Harbour Cove Club, 3000 Gulfshore Boulevard North, Naples, Fla.
Lou Young has shipped along the first batch of dues notices returned with your news and greetings, adding that "as of today 203 have paid their dues. Give it a plug. Last year's final count turned out to be 359." As for Lou himself, he and Barb were due to move at the end of October to a townhouse in Paoli (20001 Weatherstone Drive, Paoli, Pa. 19301), about 10 miles from their Devon home. "I am not back to work yet but my recovery continues to be good," Lou reported.
Among those who just send greetings and report themselves healthy are Monk Larson, EdMcMillan, Gus Broberg, Bill Sleepeck, IraSkutch, Felix Lilienthal, and Walt Lipman.
The weather enlivened things for Dick Pace down in Pensacola in mid-October. "We've been having a time around here all week with Hurricane Frederic and came through in good shape. 1 had just taken my little boat over to Mobile for some painting and the 'eye' went right through there. The place looks like an atom bomb hit, but I was astonished to find our boat still afloat."
Here is the kind of to-the-point reporting that gladdens a scribe's heart: "Betty andTinner Gordon visited Lew and BeanieJohnstone in St. Petersburg, Fla., in April 1979. In August 1979, Beanie and Lew Johnston visited Betty and Tinner Gordon at their summer cabin at Dome Lake Club, near Sheridan, Wyo." That crispy bulletin came from Tinner - or for all I know, from Betty; a separate note from Beanie and Lew confirms the truth of it all.
Don Knight writes: "Daughter Melinda about to deliver our third grandchild. Son John married this month and will reside in Darien, Conn. Meantime, Sara and I are enjoying retirement here in Ponte Vedra, Fla."
A couple months back we had news of Lee Cone's ordination in Rowley, Mass. Further word from Lee: "Third daughter married this summer - now the nest is empty except for Ellie and me. But all three girls are settled in nearby Newburyport, so the family seems larger than ever. Just saw Dave Chamberlain in Massachusetts General Hospital yesterday - recuperating from a heart attack and may require surgery before they send him home."
Come back next month, there's more. Happy New Year.
