Scream! Shudder! Shout! is the name of a one-woman show which opened in Philadelphia in late November. The star, Amanda Green, "is the best thing to come along since Maya Angelou," according to Arthur Hall, director of the Arthur Hall Afro-American Dance Ensemble. The Philadelphia Tribune wrote: "Combining drama, music, and dance, the showcase is expected to provide a forum to showcase Amanda's talents and introduce her to Philadelphia, where she'll be hanging her hat for a while." Good luck, Amanda; let us know how things are going.
I just received a telegram from Richard"Licker" Carroll concerning his "screen debut on the ever-popular Soap" TV show. Dick played a flunky-type who reads the newspaper in a coffee shop in a role that ran for approximately five seconds. Well, everyone must start somewhere. Dick is at least at that point.
Now that the 1980 Olympics are history . . . where's my bus? It's about time we offered congratulations to Tim Caldwell, who in May 1979 was chosen as a member of the U.S. crosscountry team. No gold for Tim, but just having been there is quite impressive. Congrats!
Fraser Marcus has "bitten the bullet" and will be married to Karen Wessel (Holyoke '75) in (what looks like) October. As far as making a living, Fraser has accepted a position with the international department of Salomon Brothers in N.Y.C., where he'll "be involved in the generation and distribution of new issue business for an international client." (I hope I read that correctly.) My only words of wisdom: Good luck, Karen.
I got quite a postcard from the Zoo Line Railroad in St. Louis from Dick Monkman: "Hi, class notator Some grist for the gossip mill. Kat Clute is at Harvard studying regional planning, economic development; she hates the 'vard but is sticking to it. Mike Chiarella ha; taken the pharmacology boards and is hoping! for the University of Utah. Jan Sorice is in Alaska (Juneau) playing politics with the state legislature. Phil Hertz (what's your address?) j5 supposed to be manipulating grain markets in lowa. And I'm still in law school." Thank you, Dick.
According to a UPI release, Jim Beattie will most likely be seen in a Seattle Mariner baseball uniform this spring and summer (this relaying is taking place in early March too early to tell for sure). Zelmo was quoted as saying, "I really think it's time for me to be given a good chance. I'm tired of the way the [New York] Yankees have been treating me for the past two years." For all you sports enthusiasts (you dullards): Is Jim Beattie the only Ivy Leaguer to win a World Series game? Answer in the March 1981 edition.
The Charles J. Zimmerman Award recognizing the class from one to four years out achieving the highest percentage of participation in the Alumni Fund was presented to Bill Sanbert for 76's 55.4 per cent rating. We'll show those pea-greeners!
Remember what they say about the federal government: How can you trust anyone who gave us Amtrak and the Post Office?
Please give us a relay!
