This particular column is being written after Susan and I took our 19-month-old, A.J., trick-or-treating on Halloween. We dressed A.J. up as Woody the Woodpecker, but A.J. could not get himself into an avian mood. As a matter of fact, the nearest he came to imitating a bird was the expression he often flashed throughout the evening that reminded us of the extinct dodo bird. So much for our goblin, now for the news of other ghouls and ghosts.

In July of this year, Steve Blecher crewed on the sloop Vanishing Animal, owned by Rick Van Mell '63, in the Chicago to Mackinac race. The crew of this craft (also including Andy Curtis '66) were all past commodores of the Dartmouth Corinthian Yacht Club, and this was their second entrance in a Mackinac race. No results are known as to their performance, but reports filtered in that they looked like Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.

Deloitte, Haskins and Sells has elected Robert Jacoby as a director of the firm. Bob will be based in the New York office of the international accounting firm. He is an international consultant specializing in serving the needs of senior management in the public utility industry. Bob will be responsible for the firm's public utility consulting practice in the northestern region of the country. As a certified management consultant and a member of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers and the Planning Executives Institute of Management Consultants, Bob has all the credentials to successfully shape up the utilities companies so we can make money on their stocks.

Brian McMahon sent me a nice note informing me of a change in position and mailing address. Brian has been a vice president for Latin America of Inmont Corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of automotive paints and a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation. Brian was recently named vice president of Inmont's European operations and will be moving to England from Venezuela (new address: Inmont Corporation, Star House, 69—71 Clarendon Road, Watford-Herts, England WO 1 1SB). Brian will be taking the family (wife Lucia and twin boys, Pat and Mike) to England as well. He heartily extends an invitation to any '64s passing through England. (Brian also owns an apartment on Key Biscayne, Fla., so I expect to quaff a few with him in the near future.)

Eugene J. Laka has joined the Diebold Group Inc., management consultants, as a senior member of its professional staff. Eugene was formerly a vice president with Citibank/Citicorp, where he was involved in strategic planning. His responsibility with Citicorp was to structure a ten-year organization and leadership development strategy for the corporation and the bank. He also headed the executive development division with worldwide responsibility for officer and professional personnel policy in areas of manpower planning, compensation, recruitment, and affirmative action.

Well, that's it for this month. See you all next month. Bye.
