More than 250 classmates will "return to the source" to participate in the class of 1957's 25th reunion June 17-20. Dan Goggin and his reunion production team are putting the finishing touches on numerous events - intellectual, athletic, and social - that will develop the reunion theme and will provide all attendees a most memorable experience. The reunion committee is rightfully delighted with the response to date. Please continue to provide this dedicated group further encouragement by responding to their most recent mailing, which entails putting up a modest deposit to show we're definitely committed to partaking.

The most recent additions to the agenda include a seminar concocted by Dave Cook and a nostalgic and fun slide presentation by Wayne Kakela of college (and extra-curricular) activities during our years in Hanover. The Reinter- Reinterpretation Jazz Band is expected to enhance the nostalgic atmosphere with music (jazz) from the fifties, and band members Dave Cook and A1 Shapiro (former Indian Chiefs, I believe) should be hopping as they embellish several significant reunion events.

Marty Anderson, who will be one of the panelists in Dave Cook's seminar, has recently resigned as chief of the White House Office of Policy Development. In accepting Marty's resignation, President Reagan said that he was "indebted to you personally for your dedication and the many contributions you have made to our crusade' through the years." Marty played a key policy role in both the 1976 and 1980 Presidential campaigns. He plans to return to his academic career, becoming a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, where he plans to write a book about the rise of conservatism as a political and intellectual force in the last decade.

Erich Kunzel was named musical director and permanent conductor of the San Francisco Pops. Having seen Erich perform as guest conductor of the Boston Pops, I feel San Franciscans are most fortunate to have this superior musician and great showman as their conductor.

The San Francisco Pops was founded by Arthur Fiedler (famed conductor of the Boston Pops) nearly 32 years ago; it was Fiedler who inspired Kunzel to become a pops conductor. During Erich's initial season as conductor, the San Francisco Pops' featured soloists included Ella Fitzgerald, Doc Severenson, Jim Stafford, Bobby Short, and Maxene Andrews. Erich will continue his association with the Cincinnati Pops, where he conducts 30 concerts each year and with which he has made a number of recordings, including a digital " 1812" Overture, "Gershwin: On Broadway and in Hollywood," and a baseball album featuring Johnny Bench and Tom Seaver.

Philip E. Lippincott, president and chief operating officer of Scott Paper Company, has been elected the company's chief executive officer. The company stated that as chief executive, Phil will assume all responsibilities for future planning, financial programs, and industrial relations, in addition to his continuing responsibility for the operations of the company. Phil started with Scott Paper in 1959 as a retail sales agent in San Francisco; in the ensuing years he was named product group manager; director of corporate marketing; staff vice president, corporate planning; and division vice president, consumer products marketing. He was elected a senior vice president in 1975 and was nameto head Scott's largest division in 1976. In recent years, under Phil's direction, Scott has embarked on an ambitious five-year strategy that calls for $ 1.6 billion in capital spending to modernize its production units to make its products more cost-competitive.

Keep thinking 25th! We'll see you back at the source next June.
