Greetings from Atlanta! Everyone was too busy with Christmas to write your faithful secretary, so I have resorted to making telephone calls. Since very few of you live anywhere near Atlanta, this is a very expensive proposition. So please write!

Actually, one person did write Chris Hughes. Chris has moved to the law firm of Hale and Dorr, where she will continue to do real estate law and live in Boston. Before starting the new job, Chris traveled to London. She reports seeing other '78 lawyers in Boston including Phil Flink, Mark Hansen, and Jim Bassett. Bill Blatt's mother gave me a report on Bill, who was graduated from Harvard Law School and clerked for a judge. He planned to join the firm of Cohen and Urietz in Washington, D.C., at the end of January after traveling to Brazil, Mexico, and South America this fall.

I found Bollie Bollenbach in New York, where he is a financial planning analyst for Pepsi Bottling International. Bonnie Bordins reports that she has married an Australian baron and summers in Melbourne, but winters in New York during the hockey season. In her spare time, she produces radio shows in New York City for national distribution. Mark Brandt answered the phone in Charlottesville, Va., and told me about his general law practice with Boyle and Bain. He is also excited about a log cabin home that he is buying near scenic Skyline Drive.

Nancy Rowden Brock was at home near Detroit. Nancy is an international financial analyst for Ford Motor Company, where her husband is a design engineer.

In Washington, D.C., I found both JimmieSolomon and Jimmy Vailas at their homes. Jimmie Solomon is a lawyer with Baker and Hostetler, working on litigation, health care law, antitrust issues, and aluminum company work. Jimmie is not married and claims that there is no truth to the rumor that Washington, D.C., has the highest ratio of women to men in the country. As proof of this, I might note that Jimmie was home baking cookies the night I called. Jimmy Vailas has been at George Washington University since graduating from Dartmouth Med in 1981. Jimmy started out in general surgery but is now specializing in orthopedics and raising a Labrador puppy, Jessee. He also has plans to marry June Gimas on September 2. Jimmy passed along word that Eric Larsen, who also graduated from Dartmouth Med in 1981, is at the University of Maryland in neurology.

As the evening wore on, I headed west across the time zones toward distant classmates and higher phone bills. I found Howard Clark and Nick Caridas in Houston. Howard is married to Liz Hock Clark, who is now attending business school. He works at Ad Microsystems on computer-aided design for engineering applications. Nick Caridas is practicing law in Houston after graduating from the University of Houston in 1981. Recent activities included buying a house in June (before the hurricane), skiing in Tahoe, and watching Dartmouth women's basketball against Rice.

Dave Casper reported on '78 activities in Chicago. Harris Bank has seen the light and promoted Dave and Charlie Dennison to assistant vice president. Both work on corporate commercial lending. Charlie and his wife Bobbie are expecting a baby in April. BruceRahner and his wife Beth recently had a girl, Libby.

Moving out to California, I found a bunch of '78s for only a few dollars more on the phone bill. Marc Capabianco is getting ready to retire from his career as a broker in the sale of wineries. Any classmate with $1.00 to $100 million to invest should call Marc soon before he moves on to the pursuit of a medical career in September. Marc's other activities include playing squash and contributing lie to become a "special friend" of Ronald Reagan.

Lauren Tanney is enjoying her second year at Stanford B School and hopes to stay in California in a marketing job after graduation. She reported that Mickey Levitan and PeterLeone are first-years and also passed on word that Amy Simon plans to get married May 20. Rich Cray is in his third year at UCLA Law school specializing in entertainment law. He wrote a law review article on the right of publicity and spent a summer working with the Director's Guild. Rich stands ready to defend any '78 whose famous name or face is misused by the media.

Bill Daniel is a quality manager for Verbatim Corporation, which manufactures floppy disks. Bill's recent acquisitions include a son, Rawson, born June 30, and a house, purchased last November in Redwood City. Steve Damron reported he is programming computers at Adac Labs. Other pursuits include tasting wines and playing the violin. Steve reports that Charlie Bayliss was married in September and honeymooned in Paris. He is now moving from Cincinnati to Berkeley, Calif.

Gar Waterman has excaped the confines of the corporate and medical worlds to a life we can all envy. He's pursuing a sculpting career in Pietra Santa on the Italian Riviera. He had a successful show in September and plans more for the spring and fall. When not sculpting, Gar works as a sound man and assistant camera operator in underwater filming. The only thing missing from this idyllic life is that Gar's friends are not sending news to me so he can keep up with them through this column. So let's get those cards and letters coming!

Finally, I must report additional wedding news that has floated my way. Gordon Holkein, who is pursuing an M.B. A. at Syracuse, married Geraldine Jones on January 6. BruceDavidson was in attendance at the reception. Mark Graber, a Ph.D. candidate in political science at Yale, is engaged to Julia Frank, an M.D. from Yale. Jeff Weeks is engaged to Nadia. Marano, a Ph.D. candidate in biochemistry at Princeton.

That's the news from Atlanta. As the weather remains freezing cold and we all think back fondly on those cozy winters in Hanover, why not drop your secretary a card with some news?
