Greetings from Atlanta! This month I have been lucky to receive news in the mail. Charles Allison sent a postcard from a mountain top in Switzerland. He was vacationing before starting a new job with the investment banking firm of James D. Wolfensohn, Inc. Look out, Wall Street!

I also got a baby notice from Betsy Fairbanks. Betsy and her husband, Philip McManus, announce the birth of their second child, Kevin Philip McManus Fairbanks. Kevin was born at home on Valentine's Day. Betsy and Philip live in Bonny Doon, Calif., alongjwith their threeyear-old son Timothy. I also received a call from Richard Kahn (now NickanovichKahn) announcing his move to be general counsel of Heery International, Inc., a construction management and architectural design firm headquartered here in Atlanta.

A clipping sent from the College brought news of Frank Sedan's wedding in April in Manhattan. Frank, who received his M.B A. from Tuck, is now a principal in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley. Frank married Kathleen Jackson, an oncology nurse at NYU Medical Center.

I have also received word that ArvoOopik has been elected to fellowship in the American College of Cardiology. Arvo is currently director of the Aberdeen Area Cardiovascular Program in Denver, Colo. Arvo is not the only medical fellow in our class, as Bill Petit was also recently elected in his medical specialty.

A press release informs me that RobertFleming, who received his M.B.A. from Wharton, has been named a general partner of The Vista Group, a major international venture capital firm. While the firm is headquartered in New Canaan, Conn., Robert will be based in San Diego. Robert currently serves on the board of directors of Intratec, MVS Software, Asyst Technologies, and Advanced Power Technologies. Another release brought word that Ronald K. Andrews has been promoted to director of personnel and planning for the Prudential Asset Management Company in Florham Park, N.J. Ron has been with Prudential since 1980.

A newspaper article contains news of Su-san Janosz, who received a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. Susan, who teaches at West High School in Manchester, N.H., was selected from among all math teachers in the state of New Hampshire. Susan has been teaching math at the school for ten years. Her husband, Thomas, is the proprietor of a funeral home in Manchester.

My reading of magazine articles brought news of two classmates. Jeff Nadherny was featured in a Newsweek article about people leaving business to go into teaching. Jeff recently enrolled in Harvard's Graduate School of Education after eight years in commercial real estate. Bruce Rauner was one of several venture capitalists called on for expert testimony in a March article in Inc. magazine. Bruce is listed as a general partner with Colder, Thoma & Cressey, a $400-million equity fund in Chicago.

I have recently returned from a short trip to London where I visited Anne Bagamery. Anne and her husband, Alan Hoffman, have been living in London for a year while Alan attended an international law program. When I saw them, they were trying to decide where they will be after this summer, with London or Brussels being the most likely candidates. I also spoke to Karen Fagerstrom, who was surprised to receive a call at the office from me. (Moving out of the country will not protect you from discovery.) Karen is an associate in the London office of White & Case.
