Lorna Symmes's daughter, Marcia Harmon, wrote on a green card: "Mother would like to report that she has another great-grandchild, first girl, born February 17, Stephanie Symmes Bryant. I am the proud grandma. We are all going to Martha's Vineyard for the June 23 wedding of Chandler Whiting Symmes II and Marianne Jones. Regarding your Alumni Magazine questions —expensive scotch, legally blind, and hearing aid."
Edith Bowen wrote to tell me about a week at The Balsams. Here's the last paragraph of her February 22 letter: "I did suffer a 'small' fall at the Ski Lodge but my heavy clothing prevented any serious injury. However, I was fully aware that my rib cage was hurting and X-rays revealed five fractured ribs. This did not deter me in any way and I did not miss any of the many activities."
Bill Fowler wrote on a green card: "At age 89 I live at an uneventful pace. Because of being legally blind I have a secretary come every morning to take care of my bookkeeping, etc., and read to me. My wife, Virginia, is 81 but still able to drive and we go out daily for lunch at a family-run restaurant called the 'Eatery' in Hampton. I'm glad winter is almost over."
